From The Broadcaster Seniors Conduct Television Poll An opinion poll to find out how BHS students felt about what they were seeing on tele vision was recently conducted by three seniors. Lyn Turner, Robin Patterson, and Caron Owen in Mrs. Bak er’s second period Print, Sight, and Sound class distributed copies of the poll and tallied up the results as their independent study project. Most students felt that TV has not influenced their lives or changed their way of living, but they indicated that they watched TV on the average of three hours every evening of the week. Commercials have always been an area of controversy among the students participat ing in this poll. They felt that commercials were necessary, but they also said that com mercials were the one thing they would like to see less of on TV. Alka-Seltzer commer cials were the favorite among the students of BHS. As one would expect, es pecially just after New Year’s Day, most of the boys said they would like to see more football on TV. The girls wanted to see more dramas such as the ones presented by the Hallmark Hall of Fame. Although many people re plied that they did not watch soap operas, of the ones who did, two shows were very def initely on top. “All My Chil dren” and “General Hospital” were the two favorites from a long list of daily melodramas. Most students were right in their conclusion that Marcus Welby, M.D. was the highest rated program during the 1970 71 season.
