After ■ the program, the club will work on decorations for the Brevard Music Lover : Club Benefit Bridge. All members are urged to attend to help with this proj ect. W. Martin; low scores Mrs. James Jackson; and the floating deuce prize, Mrs. Eugene Stewart. An organizational meeting of the newly fomed Pisgah Chapter of the 1 United Daugh ters of the Confederacy (UDC1 was he id at a coffee party Friday January 21st, at the home o', the Organizing President, Mrs. W. A.' Parry la Gin. C-anon. Charter officers elected at the meeting include the fol lowing: President - Mrs. W. A. Parry Vice President - Mrs. Den ton Anderson Secretary - Mrs. Theodore Dehon, Jr. Treasurer - Mrs. Louise Brackett Registrar - Mrs. Randal J. Lyday Chaplain - Mrs. David Ward Historian and Recorder of Military Crosses - Mrs. Frank Egerton. The Chapter plans to hold one meeting a year and will concentrate their efforts on scholarships. The Pisgah Chapter takes the place of the original UDC Chapter in Brevard, the Tran sylvania Chapter, which was disbanded on November 1, 1950: and embodies several of those members and also some members of the original Children of the Confederacy. It may be remembered by many that the original Tran sylvania Chapter started the library which became the Book And Plate Club To Meet The Book and Plate Club will meet February 1st, at the home of Mrs. W. D. Thomason, Jr., Dogwood Drive, at 8:00 o’clock in the evening. * Mrs. Dana Harris will have charge of the program. Transylvania Public Library and continues today in service to this area. All members of the original UDC and C or C Chapters are most welcome to join with the newly formed chap* ten, and are invited to call any of the above named of ficers for additional informs mation. The next (annual) meeting will be on Flag Day, June 14th, in the form of a lunch eon. Wednesday Club Meets The Brevard Wednesday Club met January 19 with Mrs. Lewis P. Hamlin. Pres ent at the meeting were 16 members and guests, Mrs. D. T. Abercrombie, Mrs. Jay Mather, Mrs. Dorothy Hunter, Mrs. R. W. Everett and Mrs. Denton Anderson. The president; Mrs. John Smart, appointed a budget committee for the coming year composed of members Mrs. Robert Kimsey, Mrs. Robert Davis and Miss Anne Priest. The club heard a most in formative and entertaining program on the life of the American author, Louisa May Alcott given by Mrs. Smart. As illustration Mrs. Smart exhibited a collection of dolls depicting characters from Miss Alcott’s most popular book “Little Women”. This book is Miss Alcott’s own life story. Louisa May Alcott first published in 1855 when her collection of fairy stories, “Flower Fables” came off the press. This book was the re sult of tales the author made up for the daughter of Ralph Waldo Emerson. This noted American author wrote from personal experience, giving Epsilon The;** Chapter Meets Epsilon Theta Chapter* of Beta Sigma Phi held its reg ular meeting on January 17 at First Citiaena Bank. Follow ing roll call and the reeding of the minutes, committee re ports were heard. A letter from Mrs. Bar bara Felty of First Adven ture thanking the chapter for the children’s parties given' by Epsilon Theta was read by Mrs. Carolyne Helmbercht. Mrs. Felty also expressed. thanks for the check donatedi for the kindergarten’s sand-; box. It was decided the chapter would have a White Elephant Sale at the next meeting in i order to raise money for spring socials. Everyone is reminded to bring something on February 7.
