News From Transylvania 4-H Clubs Dairy Winaer Ken Scroggs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scroggs of Route 1, Pisgah Forest, has been in volved in the 4-H Dairy Project for two years. Because of this, Ken was invited to the N. C. Jersey Association Annual Meeting at Statesville last Sat urday. Ken was recognized at the meeting as an outstanding 4-ITer in project work with Jerseys. Dr. Fred Knott, Exten sion Dairy Specialist^ presented the certificate to Ken. Brevard 4-H The Brevard 4-H Club will meet February 3, 7:30 p.m., at the Brevard - Davidson River Presbyterian Church. A fashion show is planned. Come and bring a friend. Eleven Rules On Reaching The Young It’s obvious that there is a vast profit potential in the young market today. With this in mind, here is a list of 11 rules to serve as a quick self audit of your thinking on the young. 1. Talk the words you’d like to hear and nobody out there will be listening. You must meet them on their own terms. 2. Get outside your obsolete environment and discover the new world. 3. Young people are suspici ous of you; don’t try to sell them your values and your life style. 4. Expose yourself and your management to young people’s thinking. Shut up and listen. 5. The young nose is particu larly sensitive to the acrid smell of hypocrisy. 6. While youth revels in change, most adults wallow in a sorry sameness. Keep from being dated. 7. Innovation may be painful, but sameness is excruciating. 8. Latch onto a fad that you’re aware of and you’re al ready six months out of date. 9. A subtle new word-image dimension has replaced hot copy and art So start making messages, stop making commer cials and ads. 10. If you are doing your job, H should be the bridge between your values and theirs. 11. Execute your self with as much freshness and originality as other influences youth is ex posed to.
