Will Hold Special Services At St. Philip's Church During Lent
Special services for the 40
day season of Lent are being
planned at St. Philip’s Episco
pal Church. The services will
follow a pre-lenten pancake sup
per on Shrove Tuesday, Feb.
15v to be held in the Parish
House at 6:00 p.m.
Lent will officially begin the
following day with a reading of
the Penitential Office, the tra
ditional service for Ash Wed
nesday, at 7:00 p.m. in the
church. Imposition of Ashes will
follow the office.
Every Wednesday night dur
ing Lent a special service will
be held. Guest ministers for
those occasions will include
The Rev. Messrs. Hugh Edsall
of Craggy, Howard Arnold of
Saluda. Fred Herlong of Hen
dersonville, Alexander Viola of
Asheville, and William Nes of
Flat Rock.
All Wednesday services will
begin at 7:00 pan. The public is
cordially invited. The 10:30 SJn.
Eucharist on Wednesdays will
be celebrated according to
regular schedule.

Sale Friday
And Saturday
Grace Baptist Church will
sponsor a rummage sale this
Friday and Saturday, February
11th - 12th, at the former
Sear’s Appliance Repair build
ing on Caldwell, one half block
from the First Union National
Bank.
Sale hours for both days will
be from 9:00 a. m. to 6:00 p. m.
Proceeds from the sale will
'* be used to help finance a church
organ.
The sale will feature a variety
of merchandise including cloth
ing of all types, lamps, cane
bottom chairs, appliances, ra
dios and many other “treas
ures of the attic.**
