FROM THE EDITOR'S CORNER . •••• : '■ *r EDITOR JOHN ANDERSON i or We were observing Dr. Mil ton Massey at work the other day. An X-ray was made and In about two minutes flat he was looking at the negative. Being a photo-bug, we ask ed hew be bad done the de veloping so quickly. He explained: ' A few years ago, he had had an idea, experimented and developed a quick tech nique for developing nega tives. He was encouraged by many to have it patented, but because of his busy routine, he had put it off. Not long ago, he read where someone else had a patent an his very same idea. Like Gil Ceaa used to say about baseball: You win a few; you lose a few; and a few get rained out. We should charge Dr. Massey for advertising, but this is an other story about him that we feel needs printing. Above one of the chairs in his offices, hangs a fork. As the patient looks toward the ceiling while the good Doc tor is working in his mouth, he eventually says: “What’s the fork for?” Then the Doctor delivers a meaningful sermonette. “That’s just to remind you that after every meal your teeth are as dirty as the fork with which you eat. You go to great pains to wash and steri lize that fork. But what about your teeth? Do you brush them and clean them just as good as you do that fork?” That question should hit home with everybody! For the second time in IS day*, Reggie McAfee, greet runner at Brevard College last year, has aet a new Uni versity of North Cardins rec ord timo in tho mflo ran. Last Saturday McAfee had a time of (:0U in winning tho mile at the Maaon-Dfacen Games in Louisville, Ky. That broke the record of 4:04.1 he set San. 29. “Reggie ran a very strong and overpowering race,” said Carolina Coach Joe Hilton. “He was ha complete control against some outstanding op ponents from the Soviet Union.” MeAfbe, a junior freaa Cin cinnati, Ohio, was the na tional junior college cham pion in the mile, two-mOe and cross country al Brevard College last year. If you read an editorial In The Asheville Citizens last week about the Blue Ridge Parkway’s extension to Atlanta being held up by developers in Transylvania, you might want the true facts in the case. The trouble is not in Transyl vania at all. It’s in Jackson county. Superintendent Granville Lyles says the error was all his fault, and he would like for us to tell the good people of Tran sylvania that the problem of lo cation is in Jackson with some property owners in that county. We reiterated to him that we like the Blue Ridge Parkway and would like very much to see it extended to Atlanta. Enuf said. Borrowed . . .
