They include Joseph Faler Brotherton of Brevard, Brenda Sue Cole of Horse Shoe, Thomas Frederick Dechant of Brevad, Nancy Ann Horak of Cincinnati, Ohio, Russell Curtis Hull of Riverside, R. I., Lavonne Marie Matthews of Kernersville, Ran dolph Scott Pallas of Watkins villo, Ga., and William J. Pool of Arlington Heights, 111. The grants, announced by UNC-A Chancellor William E. Highsmith, provide lodging and food for the coming year and are part of a continuing project by the UNC-A Foundation. Brotherton, who receives an Olin Corp. Dormitory Scholar ship, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Earl Brotherton. A 1972 graduate of Brevard High School, he plans to major in chemistry. Miss Cole, also the recipient of an Olin Corp. grant, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Cole of Horse Shoe Rt. 2. A member of the Beta Club and Tri-Hi-Y while at West Hender son High School, she plans an art major. A third Olin Corp. Dormiory Scholarship went to Dechant, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. De chant of Brevard. A native of Radford, Va., he is a transfer from Elon College and a mem ber of UNC-A’s varsity golf team. He is majoring in eco nomics. Summer Services Underway At Faith Memorial Chapel Outstanding ministers are be ing heard each Sunday at Faith Memorial chapel at Cedar Mountain. Services started June 18th and everyone is invited to this Jnterdemonieal national place oi worship. Sunday services be gin at 11:00 a.m. Mike Kirby of Brevard is in charge of the music. As a happy note it should be mentioned that thanks to the N. C. Highway Department, the half mile road into the Chapel from U.S. 276 near Cedar Moun tain Post office is now paved. Friday and Saturday Evenin Rites Held For Mrs. Hunter Mrs. Mary Hunter of Glade Creek Road died last Friday night in the local hospital after a short illness. She was a native of Lincoln ton, Ga., and a resident of Pis gah Forest the past 49 years. Surviving are the husband, James G. Hunter; two daugh ters, Mrs. Martha Owens of Bre vard and Mrs. Margaret Benja min of Philadelphia; four sonst Van Lee and Jacob of the home, William of Pisgah Forest and Nathan Wynn of Bridgeport, Conn.; five stepdaughters, Mrs. Mabel Avery, Mrs. Beulah Mooney, Mrs. Annie Ball Moon ey and Mrs. Mary Hemphill of Pisgah Forest, and Mrs. Lilliam Clark of Greensboro; two broth ers, Grant of Pisgah Forest and Russell Norman of Brevard; 19 grandchildren, 13 step-grand children and 44 great-grand children. Services were held at noon Tuesday in Glade Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. F. H. Goldsmith, Roy Young and C. E. Rustin officiating. Burial was in Davidson River Cemetery. Pallbearers were stepgrand sons: Dennis, William, Edward and James Hemphill, Herbert and James Avery Thomas, Benny and Johnny Mooney. VA officials noted on the June 1st sixth anniversary of the current GI Bill that en rollments of 3.3 million already exceeded the 2.4 million reached under 13 years of the preceding Korean GI Bill. NOTICE OF INTENTION TO APPLY TO THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMISSION FOR APPROVAL OF BONDS NOTICE is hereby given of intention of the undersigned to file application with the Local Government Commission, Ral eigh, North Carolina, for its ap proval of the issuance of the following proposed bonds of the County of Transylvania, North Carolina, which bonds shall be subject to the approval of the voters of said County at an election: §4,950,000 School Building Bonds for the purpose of providing funds, with any other available funds, for erecting additional school buildings and other school plant facilities, remodeling, enlarging and reconstruc ting existing school build ings and other school plant facilities, and acquiring necessary land and equip ment therefor, in order to provide additional school facilities in the County of Transylvania to maintain the nine months’ school term in said County as re quired by Section 2 of Ar ticle IX of the Constitution. This notice was first publish ed on the 6th day of July, 1972. Any citizen or taxpayer object ing to the issuance of all or any of said bonds may file with the Local Government Commis sion a verified statement setting forth his objections as provided in Section 159-7.1 of the Gen erl Statutes of North Carolina, in which event he shall also file a copy of such statement with the undersigned, at any time within ten days from and after such first publication. A copy of this notice must be at tached to the statement so filed. Objections set forth in said statement shall be for consid eration by said Commission in its determination of whether or not it may hold a public hearing as provided by law on the matter of issuance of said bonds.
