rin Brown? « a 4 These are the Issues our Citizens are concerned about, as I see them, and here is ■where I stand on these Issues # I Believe that the Woman’s Voice Should be Heard in the Progress of Brevard < The women of the community need to have more representation in the planning and gov erning of the city and its actions as it affects them. Women are in touch with the human needs in government, not just concerned with administrative detail. • I Believe in Better Housing Conditions and Better Zoning Regulations We need more housing programs to help our people and better zoning in line with pro gressive economic growth of our city. The ( current program in conjunction with HUD is excellent, more such projects are needed. * I Believe in Expanded Recreation Fa cilities and Sound Programs for Our Youth ' The parks we have need to be attractive to our youth and programs should be established to guide them in uRing them. Programs can be developed which our youth can relate to, that will also create interest for tourists and visitors. All that is now available for our older youth is a pool hall. They need some where to dance or just to gather that is well supervised and open regularly. I Believe in Protecting the Ecology a.id Beauty of Our Area We need to insure that while we must pro gress economically, we also strongly protect our streams, land, air and entire area from ecological harm and damage. Stronger en vironmental protection laws are needed and the ones currently on the books must be en forced—strictly and fairly. * I Believe in Developing Safety Pro grams for our School Children and Air port Relocation There is no question that a progressive com munity needs an airport, but not.next to a school. Sound airport planning and develop ment is needed along with better planning in the future for school safety. I Believe in Clean, Wholesome City Government I BELIEVE: “The Business of Brevard is People, Not Necessarily Administration” “While {rood administration is very essential to efficient government operation, there would be no need for it if there weren’t a lot of people with a lot of very real needs. Our emphasis should be on con cern for people and their needs. Then our desire for Efficient Businesslike Administration can be Justi fied, for it is then a valuable factor in making sure these needs are met.” “WE DON’T NEED JUST MANAGERS IN THE CITY GOVERNMENT - WE NEED PEOPLE-ORIENTED ACTION GETTERS WHO ARE GOING TO BE RESPONSIVE TO WHAT PEOPLE NEED AND WANT, AND WILL RE PORT TO THE PEOPLE EXACTLY WHAT IS BEING DONE.” I Believe in BETTER INFORMED CITI ZENS - and - IN BEING A WELL IN FORMED CITY ALDERMAN Based on information received from questionaires I will plan to further explore what the citizens of Brevard are thinking and needing. I will plan to act accordingly. My recent questionnaire showed many people are vitally concerned about city government and a num ber of issues in this election. ♦Having a woman’s voice in city government. ♦Better Zoning regulations and continued support of better housing conditions for low income fam ilies. ♦Having new programs to protect our environment while encouraging sound economic growth. ♦Having better recreation facilities and programs for our youth. ♦Programs that will help our community and at the same time attract visitors and tourists. ♦Taxes that are in line with the activities, growth and progress of the community. ♦Improved safety programs for school children. I Believe in the People and Their Needs As I’ve Outlined Them Here. If You Share My Concern for Our Com munity — Its People And Its Needs
