Thank Ton To the people of the Rosmai area: I would like to take tin: opportunity to thank the peo Charges Against The chairman of the State Al coholic Beverage Control Board said Tuesday he has been as sured that irregularities un covered in the operation of the liquor store in Brevard in con nection with raids on private clubs in that area last month will be corrected. Dr. L. C. Holshouser said the state board discussed the mat ter at its meeting Monday with John I- Anderson, chairman of the Brevard ABC Board; and store super t,t a 'nfirra l, chief of en forcement of the ABC system, had found a role of tax stamps for table wine from the Brevard store’s cash register in an enve lope at Sapphire Valley Inn. Cook said that subsequent in vestigation showed the stamps were for 54 consecutive pur chases of unfortified wines, which ABC stores are no longer authorized to sell. The Brevard store supervisor said that the sale was made by several salesmen to four men. The sale of unfortified wines from ABC stores was author ized in mid-1972, but the state board order had long since been rescinded, Cook said. Robert Hill, 1 visor._ Wumsi^Ma The local chairman pointed out that the Brevard store had been authorized to sell unforti fied wine — table wine — by the State Board, then Demo cratic, following the local wine and beer election in 1971._ The new Board, which is Re publican had not informed the local Board that it could not sell these unfortified wines. “But we have now taken this wine, 12 per cent alcohol, from the local shelves,” the Brevard chairman stated. Cook said Fred Johnson, Dis trict 6 ABC enforcement super visor, had also checked the Bre vard store’s file of transporta tion permits for purchases of liquor up to five gallons by one customer “and found some of them to be in improper order.” Some permits were made cut to a club rather than the indi vidual making the purchase, Cook said. Dr. Halshouser said that while the Brevard chaifman ackowledged that some dis crepencies against store per sonnel existed, he insisted that such does not occur at the Bre vard store on a regular basis. “We put them on notice that they should shore up their ope ration a little bit, and they agreed to see that none of this occurs again,” the state chair man said. The Brevard Chairman told the State Board that the Bre vard store had been operated pie of the Bosnian area for their cooperation with me dur ing the time I worked in that area. There will always be a place in my heart for the families I worked with and the children in my tutoring class.
