The Transylvania Times DIAL THURSDAY, MAY 28, 1974 Miss Linda Ann Cison be came the bride of Robert Winstead Snowdon on Satur day, May 18th, at 2:00 o’clocck in the afternoon. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Cison of Brevard. The bride groom is the son of Mrs. Lisa Weiss of Cedar Moun tain, and Bob Snowdon of Greenville. S. C. The ceremony was conduct ed by the Rev. Phillip Thom as at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Brevard. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a gown of satin peau ala mode trimmed with ven ise lace and small pearls. The lace edged A-line skirt was scattered with pearl mo tifs. She wore a matching lace cap with triple lace edged mantilla. Maid of honor was Miss Sharon Hubbard, friend of the bride. She wore a pale green dress with assorted embossed flowers. She car ried a bouquet of daisies an carnations. Flower girl was Miss Lisa Snowdon, daughter of the bridegroom. Donnie Snowden, of Cedar Mountain, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Roger Cison, brother of the bride, Sam Hilemon, Dan Mims, Darrell Hooper, Steve Tate and Angel Gonzales, friends of the bridegroom. Martha Rogers, friend of the bride, kept the bride’s book. The mother of the bride wore a floor length dress of blue polyester. She wore a corsage of daisies and carna tions. The mother of the bride groom wore a pink ad white floral floor length dress. She wore a corsage of daisies and carnations. ' A reception was given fol lowing the ceremony in the Parish Hall of the church. Hostesses were Mrs. Jeanet te Wilson, aunt of the bride, Mrs. Dot Case, friend of the bride, and Mrs. Elinor Lyda, aunt of the bridegroom. The bride is a graduate of Brevard High School and A-B Tech and is employed as a dental assistant. The bride groom is co-owner of Cam bridge Square Men’s Shop in Brevard. A rehearsal dinner was given by the bridegroom’s parents on Friday night in the Lambeau Room at Ber ry’s Restaurant. After a wedding trip to the Outer Banks, the couple will live at 117 Outland Avenue, Brevard. A linen and lingerie show er was given for the bride on April 24th, given by Mrs. Frankie Jean Cope, Miss Carolyn Henderson and Miss Janice Metcalf. The bride was entertained with a bridal tea on May 4th. Hostesses were Mrs. Doug Tyson, Mrs. Ed Jones, Mrs. Theodore Dehon and Mrs. Bill Millner. A bridal shower was given by Mrs. Nancy Osborne on May 6th at her home. —&— A miscellaneous shower was given for the bride on May 10th bv the ladies of Calvary Baptist Church. MRS. Members discussed new pledges (to be announced at a later date), and the high light of the evening was the installation of officers for Miss Austin And Mr. Misenheimer Are Honored Miss Bobbie Austin and Steve Misenheimer, who plan to marry on July 6th, were honored at a dinner party given by the bride’s sister, Vicki. A gift of honor was given to the couple by the hostess who will be the maid of honor in her sister’s wedding. S/JACK 5/23/4tc Miss Teressa Diann Hol brook and Roger Dale Rog ers were married on May 19th at 3:30 p. m. in the Western Avenue Baptist Church in Statesville. The Rev. Sam O’Neal and H. Steve Hoffman, both of Ral eigh, officiated the ceremony. The organist was Miss Jam ice Hocutt of Spencer and the soloist was Miss Donna Stew art of Spruce Pine. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Daris Holbrook of Statesville. She graduated from States ville Senior High in 1972 and is a junior at Meredith Col lege in Raleigh. She is em ployed at Hudson Belk in Raleigh. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul James Rogers, Jr., of the Asheville Highway in Pisgah Forest. He graduated from Bre vard College in 1972 and is presently a senior at N. C. State University. He is em ployed at Gregory Poole Equipment Company. Givevn in marriage by her father, she wore a gown of bridal satin featuring a high rise waistline accented with rose appliques on the bodice Pisgah Forest Homemakers Hold Meeting Miss Edith Allison was hos tess to the Pisgah Forest Ex tension Homemakers on May 14th. Mrs. Howard Wilkie was co-hostess. Members assembled at the home of Mrs. Allison at 10:00 a.m. for a workshop on Oshi bana and pressed flower pic tures, led bv Mrs. Marvin Garren who had taken the course at the Extension Homeipakers Craft Workshop at Montreat in April. Oshibana is the art of em bedding pressed flowers and foliage on a background us ing rice paper and glue. The making of Pressed Flower pictures was demonstrated and members were shown the technique of using pressed flowers and foliage for pic tures, note paper, and book marks etc., covering them with clear contact paper on a suitable background. The proper method of pressing flowers was shown with emphasis on the differ ence in texture between pressed flowers and dried flowers. Another feature of the demonstration was the backing of delicate flowers with clear contact paper or construction paper to make them easier to work with and to preserve odor. - A delicious lunch of sand wiches, homemade vegetable soup and hush puppies was served. Mrs. Frank Smith opened the regular meeting at 1:00 o’clock with a devotional per iod. and sprinkled down the front of the dress. The sheer puff ed sleeves were gathered at the wrist with deep bands. Hie train was made into the dress. The bride designed and made her gown. Her fingertip length man tilla was edged with lace. She carried a white bible with white roses which were lifted for a corsage os she left the church. Miss Mary Blanche Jones of Greenville, N. C., was the maid of honor. She wore blue empire styled taffeta with floral sheer overlay. A white broad brimmed hat topped the outfit. She carried a long stemmed pink rose. The bridesmaids were Miss Sherry Caudle of Winston Salem, a cousin of the bride, Miss Carol Grant of Raleigh and Miss Donna Stewart, of Spruce Pine. Miss Paula Rog ers, of Pisgah Forest, sister of the groom, was a junior bridesmaid. Their gowns were empire styled made of taffeta in pas tel colors u. blue, pink, yel low, green and lilac with flor al sheer overlay. They wore white broad brimmed hats and carried a long stemmed pink rose. ^ The groom’s father was the best man. Serving as ushers were Paul Martin of Pisgah For est, Perry Holbrook, brother of the bride, of Thomasville, Ray Rhinehart, of Pisgah Forest, Steve Misenheimer, of Brevard, and Bryan Rog ers, brother of the groom in the U. S. Army in Fort Jack son, S. C. The bride’s mother was at tired in a light blue street length dress and jacket made of polyester lace. The groom’s mother chose a street length lilac dress made of polyester. The reception was held in the Fellowship Hall of the Western Avenue Baptist Church. The couple will reside at 5608 State College Station in i Raleigh. MRS.
