Cox, Driver Educa tion Representative, State De When you think of prescrip tions, think of VARNER’S, adv. partment of Transportation, Di vision of Motor Vehicles and Highway Safety, presented the program. Concerned with both student and adult driver education, Mr. Cox stated that drivers under twenty-four are involved in 45% of vehicle accidents. However, statistics show that drivers of any age are more ac cident-prone if they drink or smoke, if they use drugs—even some cold remedies — before driving, if they use driving as a means of releasing emotion, or if ther parents were poor drivers. Driver education, available to North Carolina high school stu dents, is not a cureall for the state’s traffic problems, Mr. Cox said. It may be years be fore student driver education results in fewer highway ac cidents. A driver re-education course, Defensive Driving, is offered by the State to groups free of charge. Drivers who have ac cumulated seven points may have three noints removed by successful completion of the course. 8-Crafters Shop Will Open On Greenville Highway, 1st The 8-Crafters Shop will open for its seventh season on Sat urday, June 1st.
