Rites Held For
"P. J." Martin

tin, Jr., age 42, of 2 Meadow
Lane, Brevard died last T!»ur»
day morning in Transylvania
Community Hospital alter a
short illness.
Mr. Martin was a native of
Spartanburg County but had
resided in Transylvania Coun
ty most of his life. He was a
Navy Veteran of the Korean
Conflict. He was a member of
Supervision of the Employee
Relations Department of the E.
I. Du Pont Company, of which
he had been an employee for
the past 16 years.
Mr. Martin was a member of
the Glady Brandi Baptist
Church of which be was a
deacon, trustee and taught the
Junior Sunday School Class.
Survivors include the widow
Mrs. Eva Rinehart Martin, Jr.,
three daughters. Miss Kris,
Karen and Jenny Martin all of
the home; the mother, Mrs. Iris
Martin, Sr., of Clyde; two sis
ters, Mrs. Francis Buckner, of
Asheville, and Mrs. Betty Ruth
Sawyer, of WaynesviBe; one
brother, Ira D. Martin, of Pis
gah Forest.
Funeral services were held
last Saturday morning in the
Glady Branch Baptist Church.
Rev. Jessie Stewart and Rev.
Earl Payne officiated. Burial
followed in the Pisgah Gar
dens Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wallace
Cole, John Kevitt, Stanley Tur
ner. John Stroup, Malcombe
Hamilton and Ralph Breedlove.
Honorary pallbearers were
deacons of the Glady Branch
Baptist Church.
Frank Moody Funeral Home
was in charge df arrangements.
