Runner-Up Brevard Carolina Tire Manager Wins Award Plaque In Contest Richard Smith of Carolina Tire Company of Brevard, one of the youngest store managers in the group, received a plaque as second runner-up in the recent sales incentive contest among 32 Carolina Tire store managers. Thirty-two Carolina Tire Company store managers from North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia met at Asheville’s Grove Park Inn Aug. 3-4, in a two day meeting, the purpose of which was to present prizes in a sales incentive contest among the stores and introduce the store managers to the latest lines of Zenith television and Goodyear tires. Clyde W. Granberry, vice president-retail division, Brad Ragan, Inc. and Wally Hylton, zone manager for Carolina Tire Company stores, presided. In sales competition between “flatlanders” and “moun taineers,” the mountaineers were declared winners, and team captain Ken Mount, manager of Carolina Tire Company of Marion, received a plaque for his ettorts. In individual competition, Ken Russell, manager of Carolina Tire Company of Albemarle, N.C., was presented a trophy as top store manager in the sales contest. Jerry Horne of Carolina Tire Company of Durham won a trophy for having the highest percentage of tire sales. Third runner-up was Melvin Love, manager of Carolina Tire Company of Concord. Approximately 76 persons attended the meeting, including wives of the store managers and sales representatives. Carolina Tire Company is a division of Brad Ragan, Inc. and Subsidiaries with headquarters in Spruce Pine.
