By - MRS. AUSTIN HOGSED A joint January Bible Study will be held by Mt. Moriah Calvert Baptist Church and Cherryfield Baptist Church Jan. 12 -15 at the Cherryfield Church. On Sunday night (Jan. 12) the study will be held from 6:30 - 8:30 and on the other nights it will be from 7:30 - 9?00. i Rev. Otis Wheelhouse of Brevard will teach the adults oh the book of Acts. Other teachers are Mrs. Thomas Hooper, young people; Mrs. Linda Whitmire, fourth, fifth and sixth grade students; and Mrs. Don Dixon, first, second, and third grade students. A nursery will be provided. The Rev. Clifford Horn buckle of Cherokee will be the guest speaker Sunday mor ning at 11 o’clock at the Middle Fork Baptist Church The regular monthly singing will be held Sunday night at 7 o’clock at the Middle Fork Church. C. Garren visited relatives in Waynesville Sunday. Mrs. Mae Wilkerson of Daytona Beach, Fla. and daughter Mrs. Kenneth Lovett and children of Columbia, S. C. spent Saturday as guests of Mj:. and Mrs. Gene Matthews. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Smith were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mathis in Tuckaseigee and on Sunday afternoon they attended the funeral services for Milas M. Mull at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Jackson County. Mh Mull was an uncle of Mr. Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Butch Nelson were holiday guests of the latter’s parens, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Collins in Gastonia. Mrs. H. G. Stophel spent several days last week in Brevard as guest of Mrs. Martha Owen. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Holcombe of Pickens, S. C. were Sunday guests of the former's uncle and aunt, Rev. and Mrs. Claude Holcombe. Other holiday guests of the Holcombes were Mr. and Mrs. James Holcombe and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Holcombe and children of Ft. Mill, S. C. Rev. and Mrs. Don Dixon and son, Keith, spent last week in San Antonio, Tex. as guests of Sgt. Charles Holt and Mrs. Holt. Mt. and Mrs. Dick Fend wicke and children of Greensboro were Sunday guests of the former’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Brisco Whitmire. Mr. and Mrs. Beecher Carl Allison of Waynesville were Sunday guests of the former’s parens, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Allison. Mr. and Mrs. James Fun derburke and children of Pickens, S. C. were Sunday guests of Mrs. Funderburke’s mother, Mrs. W. 0. Galloway, Sr. in Transylvania Com munity Hospital and of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs, Arthur Dishman in Rosman. “Chuck” Pressley returned Thursday to Winston-Salem to resume his studies at Wake Forest after spending the holidays with his parents, Rev. and Mrs. J. K. Pressley. The Pressleys spent the week-end in Cullowhee with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Pressley and they also visited relatives in Waynesville. Mr. and Mrs. Don Nelson and grandson, Marty James Nelson, were recent guests of Mrs. Nelson’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Brittain in Morganton. Mr. and Mrs. Hershel Owen and daughter, Teresa, spent the weekend in Gastonia with Mrs. Owen’s brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. William Greenwood. Mrs. Owen, Teresa, and Mrs. L. C. Carter also spent Wednesday night in Seneca, S. C. as guests of Mrs. L. F. Carter. Tony Fisher returned Saturday to Asheville to resme his studies at UNC after spending the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Fisher. Mrs. Margaret Holcombe of Greenville, S. C. spent Saturday with her aunt, Mrs. W. J. Moore. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Aiken spent the week-end in Win ston-Salem with the former’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Aiken. Mrs. Blanche Edwards of Brevard and Mrs. Brady Chappell and children of Etowah spent Wednesday as guests of the former’s brother in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Aiken. Mr. and Mrs. Garvin Lit tleton and children of Salem, S. C. were Sunday guests of the former’s brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Manning Littleton. The public is invited by the pastor, the Rev. Jesse Meece, to attend both services. Marvin Aiken is in charge of the singing. Danny Jamerson was honored with a party Saturday afternoon by his mother, Mrs. Tommy W. Morgan. It was given in honor of his thirteenth birthday anniversary. The children enjoyed a magic show by Jim Pressley. Refreshments were served to the ten guests present by the hostess and her sister, Mrs. Geneva Moore. Lake Toxaway Social Events Numerous BY MRS. McCall of Lenoir visited the former’s mother, Mrs. S. B. McCall at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Case, Jr., during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Allen and sons, who had been in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada for the past several months, returned here around Dec. 20 and spent Christmas with Mrs. Allen’s parens, Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hall. They will be living in Greenville S. C. where Mr. Allen is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Fugate had as guests for Christmas, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Swafford and children of Greenville, S. C., Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Reid and sons and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith and son, Dean, of Pisgah Forest, and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Jarrett and children of McHenry, Miss. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Allen and sons, Steve and Bob of Greenville and Mr. and Mrs. Robert 1 Davidson and daughter of Shreveport, La., were guests New Years, of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Lewis and little daughter were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hall and family. Mrs. Martha McCall and children, Sharon and James Robert, Mrs. Carolyn Sue Owen, and Mrs. Linda Hoxit visited their parents Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Thomas in Laurel, Florida and Mr. and Mrs. A1 Filskov in Venice, Fla. last weekend. Mrs. Margie Lusk and friend of Asheville were recent visitors of the former’s aunt, Mrs. Carl Breedlove and son, Joe. Mrs. Danny Fisher and children of Robbinsville spent the holidays here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Wilde and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Fisher.
