H. K. Bentley Dies In Fla. .-Harold K. Bentley of jfeBary, Fla., died Jan. 5 at Qe Seminole Hospital in Sanford, Fla. ~=He was a native of Sioux fells, South Dakota, and tfetired to DeBary after iting the Pickwick Office Co. in Mt. Pleasant, [(Surviving are his widow; a ^6n, Mac K. Bentley of I^ewport News, Va.; two a. -. . brothers, Laurie Bentley of Milford, Mien., and Ray Bentley of South Gate, California; and one sister, Mrs. Blance Gover of Mt. Pleasant, Mich. Mr. Bentley was a summer resident at Sherwood Forest in Transylvania County. The University of North Carolina at Greensboro has 450 full-time faculty members. By Wallace Brewer A ...ft An active and enthusiastic business meeting was held at the Sapphire-Whitewater Community Development Club Building on Tuesday night, Jan. 7, following a delicious dinner served by the ladies of the club. Wallace Brewer, president presided and the secretary’s report was approved as read by Mrs. Pat Barclay, secretary. The treasurer’s report was given by James Owen, vice president, as our regular treasurer wasn’t able to attend. Mrs. Brenda Owen, youth director and second vice president gave a report of the Community Christmas Program that was held at the center on Saturday night, Dec. 21'. Ken Wilson, James Owen, and Melvin Dann will inspect the wooded section of the Sapphire-Whitewater Com munity Center’s lot directly behind the building for the feasibility of creating a scenic park. A plat is available of the 1.214 acre lot and photostatic copies will be made within the near future for the inspection of all club members. A round table discussion ■•.vW.v^.v.v.v,v,v was held at the meet. Everyone is cordially invited to attend these meetings and to discuss ways and means of making Sapphire-Whitewater Community a grander, greater, and more beautiful community for all of it’s citizenry. Mrs. Beverly Dann, winter librarian of the Sapphire Whitewater Library extends an invitation to both com munity residents and to residents of our sister com munities to take advantage of the library service on Thur sday afternoons from 3:30 until 5 p.m. A story hour will be held for the children when they attend. Melvin Dann, recycle chairman, extends ap preciation to all of those people that have previously donated to the recycle program. Lusk, of Sapphire visited with her mother, Mrs. Joe Bryant at Walhalla, S.C. last Sunday. 18-Wear-Olds Reminded They Must Register “All young men who reach age 18 during 1975 should plan this year on making their first contact with Selective Ser vice,” John C. Cassell, Jr., Chairman of Transylvania County local board, an nounced today. “Even though we are not currently drafting for military service,” Mr. Cassell said, “registration with Selective Service is still compulsory for all young men at age IK, so each man should make certain that he complies with the law by registering.” . Brevard Man’s Father i Succumbs John Pridmore Prugh, 74, of Charlotte, father of Or. John Prugh of Brevard, died on Monday morning, January 6. A native of Illinois, Mr Prugh had lived in Charlotte for the last 27 years. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Prugh two sons, Dr. Prugh, and Tom Prugh of Doyles town, Pa., and five grandchildren.
