Corbin, county school superintendent. “We are hopeful that the State Legislature will approve funding for new sections to be added to the six (6) public kindergarten classes already in the county”, Mr Corbin said. Parents whose children will be five years of age on or before Oct. 15, should contact the principal of the school serving their area im mediately. The principal will have eligible children’s names placed on a list for kin dergarten selection later this spring. In the past students have been selected on a lottery basis because there have been more applicants than places available. This method of selection will continue to be used until there are enough kindergarten classes to serve all eligible five year olds. Kindergartens are presently being held at Penrose Elementary, Straus Elementary, Brevard Elementary, Pisgah Forest Elementary and Rosman Elementary Schools. The public kindergartens are limited to a maximum of 26 students per class under state law. The sessions are fully day running regular school hours 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There were 16 deaths per ' 100,000 workers in 1974. a ; new all-time low rate with 13, > 500 work-related fatalities, ac - cording to preliminary reports issued by the National Safety Council.
