Pruning, Not Shearing, Provides Natural Look ii your evergreens haven’t been pruned yet, it should be done within the next few weeks, or well in advance of warm spring weather. “To get the natural look, prune to preserve the plant’s natural form,” sug gests Henry J. Smith, North Carolina State Uni v e r s i t y extension land scape horticulturist. The first rule of thumb is, don t cut away an iden tical amount from each branch or limb. There is a difference be tween pruning and shear ing, Smith pointed out. Shearing is when all branches are cut to the same length and the plant assumes an unnatural shape. Sometimes this is desirable. Hemlock, pine and similar plants can be sheared into a hedge. OPENING EVENT OF THE NEW FACILITIES Will Be Held At The Brevard Loyal Order Of Moose Lodge 1769 8 P. M.
