G Fun Halloween Party * A very special thank you to the men and women of the Cedar Mountain Volunteer Fire Depart ment who hosted the annual com munity Halloween party at the fire t building last Friday night. Gina Summey and Ginger Woodard were 9 charge. $ Children and adults dressed up ip every kind of costume: pirates, witches, ghosts, beauty queens, a Barbie doll, Pooh, even a family of bees came to enjoy the party. The fire department personnel did a $ P eat job decorating the inside of building and even and ice cream ne and popcorn machines besides traditional refreshments. 1 3 During the costume parade, prizes were awarded to Madison Dossey, Jessie and Robert Garren, Emily Bishop, Jessie Rackley, Stephanie Jones and Taylor Bridges in the baby to age 3 group, to Jill Winslow, Cody Bishop, Megan Bishop, Tawni Rackley, Kaitlin Bomba, Ingrid Allstaedt and Vin cent Christopher in the age 4 to 10 group. Prizes in the age 11 to age 18 group went to Leslie Jones, Manda McConnell, Katrina Gosnell and Melissa Murphy and adults Betty and Sharon Bishop, Kit and Marilyn Garren and Bill Holcombe. ' Many thanks to everyone who helped decorate, brought refresh ments, brought cakes for the cake walk, helped with the games or con tributed in any way toward the party. The community owes much appreciation to the folks of the fire department who gave everyone a zood time and provided a safe Hal ldween for the children. ' Personals • It was trick or treat at the post office on Monday with Postmaster Veheda Fuller pale as a ghost and wearing a wig of long, black hair. The lobby was decorated with black cats, pumpkins and a witch. W * Sunday for the winter at their home in Decatur, Ga. Their daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Alan Cadora of Atlanta, came for the weekend and helped with the move. After a trip to Columbia, S.C. and Sebastian, Fla., Don and Eve lyn Davis returned home last week. Al and Harriet Tewkesbury of Aiken, S.C. were up last weekend at their summer home. Visiting John and Ethel Murray recently were friends Duane and Genelle Sims of Rockledge, Fla. who also enjoyed Biltmore House while in the area. Tommy and Pauline Taylor and children Justin, Lauren and Amy, came up Friday from Florence, S.C. for the weekend with Mary Taylor. Recent guests of Jack and Lou Ann Dent were Jack's brother and his wife. Cliff and Dorothy Dent of Jackson, Miss, and Jack's cousin, Bradley Dent, and his wife, Fredna, and friends Robert and Anna Jo Mashburn, all of Bolton, Miss. Chuck Mullens left last Thurs day for his home in Fl Myers, Fla. after a three-week visit here with his mother, Luella Mullens. Here at their summer home over last weekend were Anna Backofen and her daughter. Dr. Joanne Back ofen of Piney Flats, Tenn. Get-well wishes to Vera Stinson who was sick at home all last week. As far as we know, no one is in the hospital and that's good news.
