Under tlic pretext of preserv ing the peace they have coun tenanced the massacre of men, and women and have forbidden others to interfere and prevent inhuman butchery. And while these watch-dogs of, the nations have JooJccu on and occasionally taken sides against C recce in her humane work of defending'and protect ing the Cretans, war between ( recce and Turkey, is now rag ing withgn at violence without any formal declaration, but war exits. isi prosecuted with vigor on 'both Isides'with all "grim- visaged war's" b itauts. From all parts of the world men are ten dering their services to Greece for participation in this strug gle for humanity. Krom the United States accessions are reported. Let them go until the wail of humanity is hushed if it involves the question of the wresting of Constantinople from the Turks and putting it in the hands of a Christian ami civilized nation.
