' Wore His Old Uniform. Two train loads of Confederate veterans left the union station this morning for Nashville, among whom wa3 Private A. W. Grandy, of Nor folk, Va., who attracted much from the other veterans. He was dad in ... the same suit of; Confederate gray that he wore during the war, and carried by his side the same Spring field rifie with which he had gone through many battles. His uniform showed many ravages from time, but over the right breast was the unnrstakable sign of a bul let hole. - The old man insisted on baring his breast to show he was no im poster. The scar was there, show ing where the bullet had entered. Lieutenant-Colonel Wm. H. Stewr art, of the Virginia Volunteers, in speaking of this soldier, said: " I have been personally acquaint ed with Mr, Grandv since 1861.. He is a private of companv B, Gist Virginia infantrv, and was true and ft m ' faithful to the Confederate cause ; in the front line of battle. He was severelv wounded iin the hip at the battle of Spottsylvania Court House, May 12th, 1801, and desperately wounded through Ithe right lung at Hatcher's Bun, February Cth, 18G5. Unselfiih devotion and manly courage marked his conduct through the eventful years of war, and since, gentlemanly deportment has further evidenced his" true manhood." It is under good management, and is iept first class in very respect. The frame of the new bridge to be put across the canal at this place is being built.
