We had the pleasure of read incrlast week, a letter written v. rnripstnn durintr the 4 ft V 44 w Reunion there V.UUHUVIMV fiomo weeks aero, by Mr. A. W. Sheriff N. O. Grandr, of this town, giv nr nn intt restinc: account of the meeting, the inspirations of comradeship ands the mem ories of that great conflict in which Southern heroes mam ninri ft Moodv conflict for four long years in defence of thrir homes and families against the world in arms. Mr. W. O. Orandjr is an old rnnfpdprato Veteran, a native Tar IIccl' Lorn in Camden county. He entered the Con federate service as a volunteer in Cant. Duke's Company, of i - . - Camden, upon the first cail to aims, was captured at the Bat tie of Hatteras, as a prisoner rf war. and when released on exchange, he entered the ser vico again with a irginia company from Norfolk and Portsmouth, being in Norfolk on business when the Virginia company was made up. Mr. Orandy is now an old man, but reminiscence of the old wartimes when he meets his old war-worn com rades he is like the old war-horse that snuffs the battlo from afar. He was young again at Charleston, and it docs one good to see the old spirit that breaths through his burning words. He never fails to attend the Confederate reunions, and al ways attends in his old grey Confederate uniform pierced by bullets that often brought him to the verge of death. This uniform is per haps the only onepresecved so that it can be worn. And it has cume to be a recognized witness in its open bullet holes of that bloody time that tried the souls and bodies of South ern heroes who fought and and pledged their lives for the defenco of their homes and families. Mr. Orandy always attends the Confederate Re unions, always attends in bis well preserved old Confederate grey uniform, and thus uni formed, he is always assigned a place at the head of the col umn, in the line of the proces sion. While marching, thus con- spicuous. he was jriven a special salutation by General John B. Gordon, President of the association of Confederate Veterans, at Charleston, an honor that the old man cher ishes with" special gratifica tion. God bless the grand old Vet cran! bless him in health and happiness, in his goings and comings, in basket and store in nis aomesiic ana social re lations, may he attend many more re-unions with his old comrades, in his well worn grey uniform, may he continue to march with it at the head of the column, and when his eventful life ends may he rest in Abraham's bosom in the consciousness of duty done in a sacred cause, whose purpose God in his wise but inscrutable Providence overruled.
