Bishop Paret visited St. George's Church, Division and Presstman streets, last Thursday evening and confirmed a class of 25, the largest number confirmed in the church for the past 8 or 10 years. St George's, owing to its environments, was look ed upon about two years ago as one doomed Episcopul churches of the city. About 15 months ago the ves try thought the best thing to do was to consolidate with St Barnabas' Church, and elected Rev. Thomas Atkinson as rector and Rev. Joseph Noble Starr as assistant As, time progressed the church seemed to take on newifer and last fall Rev. Mr. Atkinson, seeing the strength and ambition of the congregation, and knowing they had a strong desire to again become independent resigned the rectorship, and the vestry imme diately called Rev. Mr. Starr to fill the vacancy, and since that time; un der the present rector and by his un tiring zeal and by his earnest teach ings and visiting, the congregation is gradually increasing. St. George's, under the rectorship of Mr. Starr, promises to be one of the leading Episcopal churches fn the city, though not among the largest Dcalk ai Mra. W. S. Petty. For the Oteerrer.
