Greensboro Ttlagram. Bishop Candler, of the Methodist Lpiscopal Church South, in speaking of a recent railroad hold-up in Vir ginia on the Seaboard Air Line, gave the railroads a jolt when he said that such offenses were not so surprising when the railroad directors water their stocks, swindle the public and kill and maim the passengers who ride on their trains, as the result of carelessness and greed for gold. This sounds like the bishop thinks that the railroads have figttredUitout that it is cheaper to have wrecks and pay the bills than it is to give the right sort of service, and maybe he is right about it Really, the financiers arc a very heartless tut The Southern never found out hat s horrible thing it is to slay a man on its system until its o.vn president tell a victim to its wsy of railroading. And James J. Hill, president of the Great Northern, instead of going to work and making travel safe on his lines, weakly la ments that he is afraid to get on one of his trains. , Cured of Lnng Trouble. -I'lt is do eleven years since I had a narrow escape from consumption," writes C.
