Fayetteville, N. a Dear Sir: - Some time ago I took pleasure in reading in the columns ot the Obser ver a letter from your townsman. Mr. Mack Davis, now of this place. 1 would like to state that I am also a native of North Carolina, and a proud to say I spent-my childhood days among the sand hills ot dear old Cumberland, which naturally makes me partial to the old -North State. Nevertheless. I don't think Mr. Davis in his letter does Justice to the "Land of Flowers," and purpetual sunshine. It's true the scenery is more noted in some parts of the State than 'we can boast of in our Immediate vicinity; still I am sure that any ot oar Tar Heel "friends who wduld board one ot the many little launches on the Wlth- lacoochee River whose rippling waters flow through our town, on Its sixteen mile Journey to the Gulf ot Mexico, and would travel up stream for a few miles, they would admit It the equal If not the superiority to any scenery In N. C; east ot the Blue Ridge. They would find much to interest them in the doxen or more Phosphate mines situated along the river bank. They extract ton upon ton of Phosphate from the river bed every day; the hum of the little ear as It is draws up the incline heavily laden with Phos phate to be cleaned and prepared lor shipment; the-' dense forest consisting of palms, palmettoes and pines grace fully draped with Spanish moss; 'the russel of the palm leaves as they swsy in the gentle breeze aQ this tends to All our souls with content and im print upon our hearts a loyalty to the larid it flowers. It makes us proud of Donnelkm and ifs surroundings. The statement made by Mr. Davis that money don't grow on trees is true, but work Is plentiful and." salaries good. Any jof you that helieve what Mr. Davis says spout this being the land of sand spurs and that children can't be, raised here on that account come down and be convinced that you are laboring under a false impression. With best .wishes, tor the continued growth and porsperlty of Fayetteville. ,' Respectfully, - , A FORMER TAB. HEEL P. S.-Since writing the above 1 have seen the letter in the Observer written from Miami, but in behalf of the 'vicinity from which Mr. Davis's letter is Written I take the liberty of sending in my letter also. . Sincerely, ' ,' ! A Former Tar Heel. Peoria, 111, Feb. 7. Editor Observer: Dear Sir: I see by your paper that they are trying to dismember your county. Let me suggest a general State law for removal of court houses, when part or parts ot a county out strip others in population and busi ness, so that another location would benefit the majority. ' ' Such a law exists in Illinois. It I is needed In North Carolina. It would probably result in removal of court house of Robeson to a more central point, and save Cumberland from dis memberment ' SUBSCRIBER. C R. Kluger, the Jeweler, 1060 Vir ginia Ave, Indianapolis, In 4, writes: 'I wss so weak from kidney trouble bat I could hardly walk a hundred 'eet Four bottles- of Foley's Kidney Remedy cleared my complexion, cured my backache and the irregularities disappeared, and I can now attend to business every day, and recommend Foley's Kidney Remedy to all suf ferers, as it cured me after the doc tors and other remedies had failed."
