Andrew Burns, 12 years old, son of Alex. Burns, shot and killed his first cousin, Charles McLauchlin, near the latter's' home,' near Sherwood church. In Gray's Creek township Saturday af ternoon about' 4 o-'clock. On Friday Alex. Burns presented his boy with a new single-barrel shot gun. Saturday the boy went to the house of John McLauchlin, and after exhibit ing his gun, told Charles that he was going to shoot hlra. The latter's fa ther, who heard the remark, told the boy "to go away, and quit fooling with that gun." A little later the boys went Into the woods to gather some wood. Thirty mlnvtes later,' Andrew Burns returned to John McLauchlln's and said that he had shot Charles. The father hurried to the place in dicated by Andrew, and found his son deadj shot through the neck, and with his clothing In flames, showing that the shooting must- have been at close range. Yesterday Dr. McOougan, County Coroner, and Deputy Sheriff Pate went to Gray's Creek.! The latter went to the home of Alex. Burns and arrest ed the boy and " carried him to the house of John McLauchlin, where Dr. McGougan held .an Inquest over the body of the dead boy, who was about 17 years of age.. The jury returned a verdict that the deceased had come to his death from gun shot wounds at the hands of Andrew Burns. On account of the extreme youth of the boy, the Coroner left him in charge of hia mother, who is to produce him before the Judge at the next term of the Criminal Court- of Cumberland county. ' The question of dealing with youth ful criminals has frequently arisen in Cumberland county, as well as In other counties,' and the only solution will be the establishment of a State in stitution for the detention of youthful criminals. - A VICIOUS ATTACK ON TWO MEN YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, .., On Holt-Morgan Hill By A Young ' Drunken White Man.
