' Milton McCullough and wife have re turned to Hickory, after spending sev eral days with Mrs. McCullough s par The Woman's Missionary Society of the Methodist church will meet each day this week beginning todayrat the church for prayer. They will meet at 3:30 p.m. ' . " ' Mrs. . K. Houston entertained a few of her friends Friday afternoon at a sewing party in honor of Mrs. Milton McCullough of Hickory. A salad course was served and the evening was enjoyed very much. -Eight hundred and forty Visitors were pnt in Hendersonville homes and sent out on mail routes last week, and more will be added this week. The people of Hendersonville should be prcud to have a store of this shopping. A Pleasant Trip Cashier C. S. Fullbright of the Citi zens National Bank, left here with his family on the 17th of October, for visit to relatives and friends. He first went to Winder, Ga. , where his broth er, Thad. C. Fullbright, is located. From there he went to Atlanta, and took in the Southeastern Fair; then to Cor nell, Ga., to visit a sister; then to Ivy Log, Ga., where his mother resides; from there he came home, stopping at Sylva, N. , C. , to visit relatives and friends, arriving here on Tuesday night the 31st. He made the trip in his auto- mobjle, and reports an enjoyable time His man v friends are clad to see him back again. ,; - We arespending about $35,000 the year for the support of pub lic free schools m Henderson county. It is the duty of the authorities, to see that our money is properly- expended, and the head of every family should see that the., children get value for every penny of that money. Dr. Guy E. Dixon, we are sor ry to learn, has been' confined to his home for seyeral days by sickness. He .is . suffering Jrbm blood-poison, ' "His many friends hope to see him out again soon. 0 Local contractors state that there is a great deal of building going on in the county, indicat me that times are prosperous. While there are no skyscrapers in course of construction, there is a' good substantial growth in the number of residences being built over the country. Boy Hurt On last Thursday, Elbert, a little son of James Jones who resides on the road between this place and Flat Rock, was at the latter place when an automobile came along, the occupants of which permitted him to ride on the running-board of the ma chine toward his home, at the same time cautioning him to hold on to the machine until they reached the house, when they would stop and let him off. But the boy did not wait, and in at tempting to step off was thrown into the drain by the roadside and rendered unconscious. A physician was hurridly summon ed and found that the young fel low was badly shaken up, but when Jast heard from it was thought that he would fully re cover. Improved Order of Red Men. This Tribe was organized here May 22, 1915; (Flower Moon, 22d, G. S. D., 424). It is com posed of about fifty members in good standing. It carries insur-' ance and a benefit of $5.00 per week for its sick brothers. The present officers are W. F. Brown, Sachem ; Joe King, Senior Saga more ; A. O. Jones, Junior Saga more ; . E. D. Roper, Prophet ; J. C, Brown, Chief of Records ; W. E. Shipman, Collector of Wam pum ; W. D. Justus, Keeper of Wampum. The Tribe meets in I; O. 0. F. hair on Friday night of each week.' . ' Dr. A. C. Neb Sovereign Commander Woodmen of the World, will be guest of White Pine Camp, No. 213, Woodmen of the World of Hendersonville, on Wednesday even ing November 15. White Pine Camp has invited all the Woodmen Camps of the surrounding town and cities to be present on this occasion. This visit is quite an event, and he will no doubt be entertained royally. White" Pine .Camp is one of the stronges in this section, and is steadily CTOwine. Its members consist of our best citizens, who are doing a good work. G. J. Milward has purchased the interest of W. N. Fisher in the Hendersonville News Co. and will continue the business at the same stand. ' Change of Hours Commencing November 6, the Queen Theatre will run a matinee every after- , noon from 2:30 to 6 p.m., and dose until 7:20 and open the night show promptly at 7:30 p.m. ' The management assures us that they will continue to run only the very best high-class feature pictures, most pop ular serials, and the funniest comedies for their patrons, and we hope the peo ple of Hendersonville and contiguous, territory will give Mr. Glenn the sup-' port that he s(T justly deserves.
