Brooks of Alcoa, Tenn., is visiting his family in the city. Miss Mary Cody of Black Mountain is visiting her aunt, Mrs. Lee Smith, at Hill Girt. Jerry Carter en route from Cincin nati, 0., to Tallahassee, Fla., visited friends in the city last week. Miss Ruth Black left Friday to spend the summer with relatives in Philadelphia and New York city. Miss Virginia Lyda of EdneyviIIe spent last week with relatives in the city. Miss Mabel Griffin, who has been visiting relatives in Knoxville, has re turned to the city. Miss Elsie Ficker has returned from Brenau College, Gainesville, Ga. She expects to return soon for a summer course at Brenau. Mrs. McD. Greer, who spent the winter in Florida, has returned home. Mrs. Greer has not been well but is improving. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Oates left Friday for Baltimore, Md., to attend the wedding of their daughter, Miss Anne Oates. Miss Ada Whitmire leaves soon to spend the summer with her sister, Mrs. G. W. McLean, at Fitzgerald, Ga. ; Mrs. Kate Reece has accepted the position as clerk in the manager's office of the telephone exchange re cently vacated by Mrs. Artie Truett, nee Miss Anne Connor. Miss Harriette Johnson, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. S. H. Gilreath, is spending some time with friends in Asheville before returning to her home in Greenville. The Misses Wilkins Are Honored Misses Norma and Margaret Wil kins, who recently graduated from the Normal and Collegiate Institute at Asheville, are home for the sum mer. Miss Margaret Wilkins took a prominent part in the senior play, "A Mid-Summmer Night's Dream," given by the graduating class during commencement. Miss Norma Wilkins won a scholarship and was permitted to read her essay at the graduating exercis.es as it was one of the five essays showing best thought and pre paration out of fifty-three.
