' .v rvr -- t FHISOIIE flRVS OF THIS BUSY fOWn Be cheerful ! Mr. Tom" Osborne, one of the successful farmers of this county, was in town Saturday. W. G." Painter has two Buff applies which lack but one half ounce of weighing one pound each. Hon. A. Cannon, member State Board Agriculture, has gone to Raleigh to attend a meeting of the Board. . J. D. Boyd attended the C. C. & O. celebration in Spartanburg last week and saw, he says, the biggest crowd of his life. The Thanksgiving Day Union services will be held al the Bap tist Church, this year, Rev. Jno. W. Moore conducting the services. - - Mr. and Mrs. Will Garren have the sincere sympathy of their many friends in their heavy be reavement through the recent death of their five-months old child, Effie. If the capital of the State is ever removed from Raleigh, of which possibility there is occa sional mention, in the State press, Hendersonville is the logical place for it. The board of trade should get busy. Hon. A. Cannon tells a weird and wonderful story of a sweet potato owned by "Dave" Daven port. It ?s shaped exactly like a duck. Has the head, neck, body and tail of a duck; all it lacks is the feathers, 'it even having the eyes of a duck. Mr. Cannon is at a loss to account for the phe nomenon, but is inclined to attri bute it to the wet spell last Spring, altho' Tom Osborne be lieves a flock of wild ducks may have passed over the potato patch while the sweet potato was still in an immature stage. In nl ake nmk - rescriDbons TO HUNTER'S PHARMACY We till them exactly right Rev. R. N. Willcox left on Wednesday for NewYork, on busi ness, to be gone possibly six weeks. Beginning Friday night, Nov. 5th, and continuing to the 14th, Willis M. Brown, evangelist, Bertha and Lillian Brown, ministers in the Church of God," will conduct services at Tracey Grove meeting house. The Hustler is always glad to make a correction. It recently stated that the Calhoun-Wilkins Company was selling within 20 miles of Spartanburg. This was incorrect. They are selling IN Spartanburg, and this is but added testimony to the well known fact that Hendersonville is the wholesale distributing point for the Western part of the State. .Schedule of Trains. The building is not what it should be. While the walls and roof are good, the interior needs to be all taken out and replaced by a modern plan, so arranged that each grade can have a separate room. Fire es capes so necessary to be provided in all school buildings, must be put in, and provision made for the small children to be kept on the first floor. All of this will require some ready money, which the patrons of the school can easily provide when given an opportunity at the ballot box, and the time has now come when this must be done. Parents com plain that their children are crowded, that the little children are in the upper rooms, that the ventilation is poor, etc., all of which is blameable on their parents, and not on the manage ment of the school. Something must be done. Whose -business is it? Who will move' in the matter? Who wants it done? Ten thousand dollars will make our school building one of the best, with heating plant, and modern equipment Let us talk over the matter, visit the school, examine its arrangement and equipment, and get ready to act for our children. A. Patron. FORTY-IE BAPTISED AtRhetts Pond, Flat Rock, Sunday, 41 people were baptised and received into the church as a result of the revival services just closed at Mud Creek Church, conducted by Rev. Mr. Coles. It is said over a thousand people witnessed the ceremony.
