missioners. Whereas, it appears that the fore
going parties named on the two an
nexed copy sheets have failed to list
their real and personal property for
tax for the year 1917, it is therefore
ordered that the register of deeds list
the property for tax, compute the tax;
on each and turn same over to the
tax collector and if taxes are not paid
the tax collector is ordered to adver
tise and sell same for tax according
to law.

COUNTY TEACHERS MEET.
The county teacher, met last Sat
urday in the auditorium of the graded
school building. The meeting was
opened by the singing of America,
followed with prayer. The county
commencement was discussed. There
will not be any parade. this year. The
exhibits will be at the court house.
The public is cordially invited to see
them. Parents are urged to be there
and examine the work.

Miss Elsie Ficker Honored.
At the regular election of officers
of Students' Union of Brenau College-Conservatory
of Gainesville, Ga.,
for" the year 1918-19, Miss Elsie
Ficker was elected circulation mana
ger of the "Alchemist," the school
paper published weekly by the stu
dents of Brenau. This is regarded
as a great honor at Brenau and Miss
Ficker is to be congratulated upon
the esteem with which she is regarded
by her fellow-students and the confi
dence which they have manifested in
her ability.
Miss Louise Hodges' Recital.
Friends of Miss Louise Hodges, of
Hendersonville, will be interested in
the following account of her graduat
ing recital as taken from the Alchem
ist, the weekly paper published by the
students of Brenau college at Gaines
ville, Ga.:
"Another lovely voice recital was
the one given by Miss Louise Hodges
on Friday afternoon at 4:30. Her
program included groups of beauti
ful and enjoyable songs, which Miss
Hodges rendered in her usual charm
ing manner, combining her pleasing
personality with a splendid musician
ship. The quality of the tones was
perfect, and the interpretation was
interesting, and she sang with re
markable ease and finish. Miss
Hodges' program was well appreci
ated by the enthusiastic audience,
and all recognized the artistic rendi
tion of each number. Miss Pauline
Harrell assisted Miss Hodges and
Miss Frances Fritzlen was accompa
nist." :o:
Red Cross Auction Sale.
The Hendersonville chapter of the
American Red Cross will conduct an
auction sale at the court house on
Saturday, May 25, at 12 o'clock.
Everybody in the county is urged to
contribute country produce of all
kinds, and wearing apparel or old
furniture. Notice will be given later
where articles are to be left. The
proceeds of sale will be used to pur
chase materials for the chapter work
rooms and its auxiliaries.
