Biggar, who has been spending the summer in the city, has returned to her home in Augusta, Ga. Mr. and Mrs. M. A. Cagle and lit tle son have returned from visiting at Lake Toxa'way. Mrs. L. M. Dodamead of Norfolk, Va., visited relatives in the city last week. Mrs. M. C. Speed was at home to. a few friends Thursday afternoon at her home on Eighth avenue. Miss Julia Selden, who has been visiting Miss Emily Ewbank, has re turned to her home in Spartanburg. Miss Eleanor Sargent, who is a teacher in Eliada Orphanage, is spend ing a few days at home this week. R. L. Edwards expects to leave with in a few days and accompany Mrs. William Hallman has accepted a po sition with Wilson Drug company. Miss Nelle Stepp is visiting friends in Flat Rock. Dr. Walker spent the week-end with relatives in Black Mountain. Mrs. Northington of Jonesboro, Tenn., is visiting her son, Roy. L. F. Wall and daughter, Catha rine, of Campobello, S. C, spent the week-end with relatives in the city. Mrs. P. I. Bras well and children expect to leave this week for their winter home in Daytona, Fla. Misses Emily Moore and Ruby Ham ilton spent the week-end with relatives in Brevard. Miss Ethel Pope is chief operator at the city telephone exchange in the absence of Miss Jane Connor. Mr. and Mrs. Smith and son of Kentucky have taken the Scriven house for the winter. H. E. .Torrance, who has been spending a week with relatives in Savannah, Ga., is expected home this week. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Johnson of Atlanta, Ga., are expected this week for a visit to their relatives, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Torrance. Miss Jane Connor left last week for a visit to her sisters, Mrs. J. l. Broughton and little son left last week for a visit to rela tives in Georgetown, S. C, before returning to their home in Columbia. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Gurley and amily, who recently sold their home, expect to move soon into the Hunter fiat. S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Brownlow Jackson have rented their home and are oc cupying "Jackson Cottage" on Fifth avenue, west. Mrs. J. L. Grubbs, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. T. B. Con nor, has returned to her home in St. Augustine, Fla. Mr. Dinwiddie of the Wilson Drug company spent the week-end with re latives in Asheville and Black Moun tain. Dr. and Mrs. N. T. Clark of Spar tanburg, S. C, were week-end guests of the former's aunt, Mrs. J. G. Wal- drop . Mrs. R. H. Staton and Mrs. S. Johnston, who have been visiting friends and relatives in Charleston, Younge's Island, S. C, and Savannah, Ga., are expected home this week. Mrs. J. S. Brown, who was a dele gate from the local chapter of the D. A. R., to the state convention which met in Salisbury last week, has returned home. On her way home Mrs. Brown visited her daughter, Mary, at Montreat Normal, Montreat. Mrs. W. A. Garland and daughter, Miss Elizabeth left last week for a visit to the former's daughter. Mrs. G. C. Tutt, at Winston-Salem before returning to their -winter home in Delray, Fla. A. J. Williams of the Southern Ex press company is taking a vacation of several weeks. Mr. Williams will spend part of his vacation with rela tives at Dana and Campobello, S. C. The Ladies Aid Society of the Me thodist church will meet Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of Mrs. F. V. Hunter on South Main street. Miss Mabel .
