(By Evelyn Byrd; Graham) Miss Ruth Fitch ett, music director off Fassifern school, and Miss Marg aret Butman, assistant director, gave a brilliant piano recital, Saturday eve ning, Nov. 22, in the auditorium. These young pianists delighted the audience and each number showed that both Miss Fitchett and Miss Butman are en dowed with that poise and self-confidence which goes to make true musi cians, the temperament, tone, and technique being equal to any demands musical. . It is sufficient to say that the ensemble work of both was per fect and the program made up of mus ic of the highest order. A number of the Hendersonvule folk enjoyed this delightful recital Mrs. McBee and Miss Shipp entertain ed informally after the recital for Miss Fitchett and Miss Butman. Mrs. Bruce Drysdale gave a bridge party at her home on Third avenue 'ast Friday afternoon in honor of Miss Tennv Fleetwood Westfieldt. An ice course and mints were served during the afternoon. Those nlavinir were Miss westfieldt. Misses Irene Paddick, Mary Thrall. Gertrude Gillam. Guilla Weiss. Ruth Fitchett and Mrs. "R. P Freeze. The basket ball game between the sheville High School and Fassifern vas one of the most interesting of the season, and was characterized by clean claying and good sportmanship. The score was 17 to 8 in favor of Fassi fern The subs of both teams play ed after the regular game and the core was very close, being 7 to 6 In favor of Fassifern. After the game the visiting and home teams were entertained at a beautifully appointed tea in the Do mestic Science house by Mrs. McBee and Miss Shipp. Miss Jenny Spotswood Westfieldt and Mis Jenny Fleetwood Westfieldt rave a most delightful tea in honor of the Fassifern faculty last Saturday afternoon at the home of the former The Grange," at Fletcher. The beautiful home, noted for its chanr and hospitality, was attractively de corated for the occasion. Friends or he hostesses called during the after noon to meet the guests of honor. Fassifern school closed for the holt days Tuesdays, December 3, on ac ount of the train conditions and will open early in January.
