The 133 rd annual communication of the North Carolina grand lodge of Masons was called to order in the Ma sonic temple here by Grand Master Henry A. Grady, of Clinton. During trie evening the grand lodge heard Wth deep interest the report of Grand Master Grady, who outlined his administration. The grand orator was Senator George V. Cowper, of Kins ton. Senator Cowper declared that he be lieved that some sort of league of na tions should be effected; that it should be a league that teaches men they are all one common origin and that they should extend their hands across the seas and clasp those of their brethren on the other side. Smallpox is widely prevalent throughout the State, more than 500 cases having been reported to the State Board of Health since the first of November, according to a statement issued by State Epidemiologist Dr. F. M. Register.
