Celebrates 76th Birthday Learning how much Mr. \A. H. MrDaniel enjoyed a victrola some time in March Mrs. W. L. Dawson began to write to his children, namely: Mrs. •J. D. Smith, Mrs. J. C. Cowen, Mrs. -W. A. Harrill and Messrs J. B. and J. C McDaniel in ragard to giving their father a surprise birth dinner and presenting him with a victrola. Soon all plans were perfected. Mr. McDaniel was 76 the 15th inst.; this was when the celebration was to have been, but on account of sickness it was deferred until the 19th. So last Saturday morn ing about ten o'clock the children and grandchildren began to arrive bringing well filled baskets. Mr. McDaniel knew nothing of it at all until he came home from up street near the noon hour to find the house full of people and the victrola playing. He was surprised beyond utterence. There were present five children, two great grandchildren and five in-laws. The nearest neighbor family, Rev. and Mrs. W. L. Dawson together with two children and a visiting friend and Rev. and Mrs. S. N. Watson total 46. Several grandchildren and friends brought records. Now when we got through we were like Mr. McDaniel when he came and saw the crowd, we were too full for utterance. o Forest City Route No. 2 Miss Elizabeth Griffin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Griffin, who has beeg attending school at Washington D. C. has returned home. Miss Ida Byers returned home with her. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Garland Sherrill last week a girl, Ruby. Mrs. Louada Hodge of Union visited her parents last week, Mr. and Mrs. Quincy Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Ivey Bright and Miss Tina Byers spent the week-end visiting relatives at Boiling Springs. Mr. J. J. Hardin has purchased a new Ford touring car. Mrs. J. J. Hardin and son, Clyde, Mrs. P. H. Hardin and daughter Miss Ada and Mrs. J. E. Womack were visitors at West End Friday afternoon. o Mrs. J. D. Sansing, of the Mount Vernon section, spent a time this week in Forest City, the guest of her sister Mrs. J. H. Crawford. By the way, we hear good reports from that section. They have had good rains, the crops are good and looking fine, they have plenty of early fruit and the blackberry crop is the best in years and the only thing worrying these good people is they are afraid they can not get the sugar so as to preserve and can up as much fruits as they would like to. Note how well satisfied are owners of Hudsons four and rs Then judge Super-Six qualities by comparison with other cars ot the same period now in service. But what those owners of older models do not realize is the great strides made in Hudson development. Their satisfaction in their car has closed their minds to the possibility of imprpvement. Yet each succeeding model has been a step nearer perfection. now we have in the present type reached a degree that not only retains t e advantage common to every Super-Six —its fleetness, acceleration and en~ durance—but which relieves the owner of mechanical concern. It gives him locomotion-like power and Pullman-like riding qualities. There is dignity, satisfaction and reliability in the present Super-Six which will be as notable five years hence as are now other recognized Hudson qualities of the first series. There can be no other car just like the Hudson for patents give exclu siveness to the Super-Six motor. Cleveland Motor Co. SHELBY, IN. C.
