Thomas Blanton Hurt
Wednesday morning while riding a
bicycle on the square, Thomas Blanton
was knocked from his wheel and run
over by a car driven by a Mr. Smith.
From best information obtainable,
Thomas was riding and looking back
ward, and, when near the approaching
car, swerved his wheel in front of the
automobile. Mr. Smith did all he could
to prevent the accident.
Thomas was picked up and carried
home, a physician was summoned and
medical aid administered. No bones
were found to be broken, his tongue
was badly bitten and several stitches
were taken in it. As we go to press
the little fellow is resting comfortably
and his friends hope he will soon be out
again.
It was a narrow escape.

Happenings of a Local

Miss Bessie McDaniel is visiting her
parents Mr. and Mrs. James McDaniel.
There has been a bus line established
between GafTney and Chesnee. It runs
so as to meet the Forest City-Spartan
burg line. Our people can now go to
GafTney, transact business and then to
Spartanburg by train, and back upon
the bus home. It is a convenient
schedule. Now if the Shelby bus wouid
meet the Spartanburg bus somewhere
on the route and transfer passengers,
we believe that line would do a better
business.
Two. gentlemen from Old Fort, N. C.,
were here this week trying to rent a
suitable place to open a first-class
barber shop—they wanted a place with
a plate glass front, metal ceiling and
tile floored, and tried to lease Jeweler
Bradley's place. They want to put in
a good shop with all the newest fixtures
and put in bath! Such a place would
pay here and the shops already in
operation here would make a killing if
they were to put in bath tubs.
Forest City offers a mighty good
opportunity for a good jeweler to locate.
It is a good field. G. F. Bradley
wants to retire.
We have several new ads. this week.
Look them over.
Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Woods and
children from Marion N. C. are visiting

A card received in Forest City by

walls will be b-ilt, extending out to
the street. This addition of space
to the three floors will give a good
deal more room for machinery. It
is rumored that later the mill will
be greatly enlarged or another
mill built. W T e are not in position
to give details.
