We are trying to get 200 in Sunday School. Miss Ollie Gettys, a student at P. H. S., spent Sunday with her home people, Mr. and Mrs. Plato Gettys. We are sorry to note that Mr. Z. V. Davis is in the hospital. Hope he will soon be out again. The family have our sympathy. Mrs. Murray, who lives here, had a narrow escape from serious injury last week while at work in the corn mill. She was caught in a belt and sustained several bruises and also a broken arm. We are glad to note she is doing very well at this writing. Miss Vera Whisnant, who is teaching at Race Path, spent Sat urday and Sunday with her par ents, Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Whis nant. Since our school closed we feel :ost. We will be glad when our school opens again. We are plan ning for a good school next year. Every parent is urged to attend the next Parent-Teachers' meeting on the fourth Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Mrs. J. P. D. Withrow is at tending the State Sunday School convention in Charlotte this week. BARACA-PHILATHEA EXPECT 1,000 AT JUNE CONVENTION About one thousand delegates are expected to be present at the twelfth annual convention of the North Carolina Baraca-Philathea union at Hendersonville, June 15- 18. Speakers of wide reputation] have been secured including - , Rev. Dr. Henry Cl IMorrison, of Ken tucky; Rev. Dr. R. J. Bateman, of Asheville; O. Max Garden, Shelby, and others. Those in charge of the program say a big pageant will be one of the features. The pageant will show graphically the origin of the Baraca-Philathea movement. A parade will be staged and banners will be carired by the classes in county groups. Pennants will be awarded to the largest delegations. Your Committee on Law-En forcement and Resolutions, sub nits the following: Law-enforcement is one of the outstanding issues now confront ing the people of North Carolina, especially as it relates to the anti liquor laws. The question of "Wet or Dry has been settled and the issue now is obedience or dis obedience, loyalty or disloyalty, law and order or anarchy. We believe that "Obedience to law's liberty" and that the Constitution jpon which rests American liber ty should not be ruthlessly tram pled under foot. Fourth, that this conference commends the faithful and effici ent work of Mr. R. A. Kohloss, Federal Prohibition Director, of Salisbury, and the federal prohi bition agents under him and urges our people to send to him evidence and facts concerning- liquor-mak ing and liquor-selling. Fifth, that we pi tition the mem bers of the General Assembly who will be nominated in June and elected in November to enact law-enforcement code empowerii the Attorney-General to en fore the law throughout the state an. to harmonize our state law with the Volstead Act.
