Rev. W. T. Tate, of Caroleen, did the preaching and Dr. Adams greatly assisted in the work. We had great crowds at each service and Mr. Tate preach ed great sermons. The people, of Holly Springs, didn't know they could love Mr. Tate so well as they learned to. Several got his little book, "Up a Little Hill" and learn ed some of the hard things he suf fered while trying to educate him self for his great work. Dr. Adams baptized 28. .'here were somewhere in 30 conversions. Some went to other churches. All were Sunday school scholars but two. ALEXANDER NEWS Rev. Matheny, pastor of the Alexander Baptist church, has promised to assist Rev. Smith in his serial meetings at Goodes Creek, beginning the third Sunday in August. As all know, Rev. Matheny is an influential young minister and the church is fortu nate in securing his services. The Alexander Mill treated their employees to a big watermelon feast recently in the grove back of the church. About 225 melons were cut and devoured. Prof. W. R. Hill was present and spoke on "The Greatness of N. C.." His address was much enjoyed by all present. It was full of informa tion about the "Old North State." No mill in the county treats its employees better than does the Al exander and no set of employees are more loyal to their employers than the people of Alexander Man ufacturing company. DEATH OF MRS.
