CHESNEE TO CLIFFSIDE
Gaffney ledger: As a result of
agitation on the part of the Spar-1
tanburg Chamber of Commerce, j
Charles H. Moorefield, state high-!
way engineer, has written a let- j
ter to Dr. W. C. Hamrick. chair
man of the Cherokee county high
way commission, suggesting that
the part of the Chesnee to Cliff
side road in Cherokee county be
improved by the local chaingang.
Mr. Moorefield says the county s
shSre of automoblie license fees
is insufficient to maintain the
highway already constructed here.
At present the chaingang is
working under the supervision of
the county board of commission
ers, and the highway commission
has no control of this feature of
the situation, but it is possible
that some plan may be devised
wherby Mr. Moorefield's sugges
tion can be adopted.
