The car, a handsome Buick six, was severely damaged. Messrs. Beam and Padgett were rushed to the Shelby hospital, where it was as certained that their injuries, while severe, are not considered as being dangerous. The young men, all of Forest City, were driving toward Shelby when the accident occurred. Striking a sand bar, the driver lost control, when the car dashed over an em bankment, turning over several times and lodging against a tree. BANK PROMOTES PUREBRED POULTRY The National Places 150 Set tings Of Eggs In County; Poultry Show in Nov. The National Bank of Forest City last Saturday finished its pro gram of putting out purebred eggs for hatching among a selected list of farmers throughout the county, hav ing placed 150 settings through the co-operation of County Agent F. E. Patton. Mr. Patton used good judg- I ment in placing the eggs in widely ! distributed sections and among far mers who would better carry out the plan. The bank paid a good price for the eggs, getting only the best purebred stock. Each man who took a setting of the eggs agreed to return a choice pullet to the National Bank on Nov. 8. On November 9th a big county wide poultry show, sponsored by the National Bank, will be held in For est City. At this time results of the bank's efforts to improve the poultry of the county can be checked. The National Bank has been high ly commended for its efforts in im proving the poultry of the county. No expense was spared to give the very best eggs. Purebred poultry, as well as purebred stock, should be the goal of eevry Rutherford county farmer. With the inauguration of this program, a wonderful improve ment will be noted in all classes of stock. It is just as easy and with no greater cost, to raise purebred stock than it is to handle the scrub, but the profits are immeasurably greater. WANTS SCHOOL TO HAVE PART IN FAIR Resolutions passed by Union Mills-Gilkey Community Fair at a meeting held on March 20, 1925: Whereas the space allotted by the Rutherford County Fair Association for community fair exhibits, has in the past been inadequate, it being .impossible to properly arrange a community fair exhibit in the small space which has heretofore been al lotted; and Whereas the premium lists for County Fairs in the future are to conform to the State Fair premium lists, which will make it absolutely necessary to give prominence to the educational features; and Whereas it will be impossible to work in the educational features un less at least twice as much space be given for community fair exhibits as has been allotted in the past: Therefore be it resolved by the Union Mills-Gilkey Community Fair that it is the sense of this organiza tion that it would be inadvisable to attempt to put on a community ex hibit at the Rutherford County Fair in 1925 unless, the enlarged space, as mentioned above, is arranged for by the Rutherford County Fair As sociation for community exhibits. Resolution No. 2 Whereas the boys and girls of the county, especially those of school age, have not had an active part in the Rutherford County' Fair; and Whereas, the schools and the edu cational life of the County has not been included in the premium list and not given any prominence worthy of consideration; and Whereas, the youth and schools of the county are worthy of recog nition equal to that of the various other activities of County life: Therefore the Union Mills-Gilkey; Community requests the Rutherford County Fair Association to give the J schools of the county due consider ation in making out the premium list for the year 1925. Resolved that a copy of these res olutions be sent to O. C. Erwin, sec retary and treasurer of the Ruther ford County Fair Association and to the Rutherford Sun and Forest City Courier.
