Pierce Knowing the vast amount of harm wrought by diseases of the kidneys, and having had opportunity to ob serve the analyses and the successful methods of treatment in thousands of cases of kidney trouble at the Inval ids' Hotel, I have recently given to the public the latest and perhaps most important of the Dr. Pierce home remedies, "An-uric" (anti-uric acid) Tablets, which I now recom mend to those who suffer with kidney backache, irregularity of urination and the pains and disturbances that fome frcm excess of uric acid in the blood. "An-uric" can be obtained at ail Jthe drug stores. The mere drinking of a cup of hot water each morning and a little "An-uric*' before every meal should bring remarkably quick improvement. You may have kidney trouble and not know it. The danger signals to be quickly heeded are back ache, depression, aches, pains, heavi ness, drowsiness, dizziness, irrita bility, headaches, chilliness, rheuma tic twinges, swollen joints, gout. No indeed, and not a very elegant habit, you will agree. Not a very elegant thing to do, this spitting. In fact a very disgusting species of license. You do not indulge in it? So much the better then, but do you allow your friends, your brother, your father, your husband, or your son to do it? SO-O-O-O? You do not spread dis ease yourself; you are not guilty of an offence against decency and yet you permit your associates to do and be so without voicing a protest. Then YOTj too might be considered responsible in a small measure for epidemics, for suffering and for death. I knew a little boy once,—a cf about nine years. He was bedridden, had been so for over a year when I first saw him. Pitiful little chap— Alex! Had tuberculosis of the bones and the joint was larger than a football, by a good deal. The particles of bone were coming through the flesh which was also diteased. The odor was so offensive that no one but the doctor and the good nurses, the father, and the mother would visit his hospital room. One day, with his face quiver ing, he turned his appealing eyes to mine and said, "I wish the other children would come in to play with me. Not even the little Jesus would come to see me, I guess.' You think I should not tell you such a story? How else am I gojng to make you see how terrible a thing it may be to expectorate in public places, or for that matter in any place except into a handkerchief or its equivalent, which can be boned or burned. How can you care unless you know of some of these awful conse qeunces, to children especially, whicn follow carelessness. I know the old excuse. ou and they "have not the germs of tubercu losis in your nose and throat. How do you know? Pneumonia, influenza, diphtheria, scarlet fever, and most of the other infections —now are they spread if not in this way and by coughing and sneezing improperly? Little children are the ones who are most frequently endangered because of their great susceptibility. Doctors and nurses are all the time seeing just such suffering as Alex went through. It is not rare. It is not necessary. Use your scouring powders and your soaps, by all means, but in the name of pity and decency, wipe out the prevalent habit of spitting. Make yours a ''spitless town" in the full sense of the term. Forest City Lodge No. 381, A. F. & A. M. I Regular Meeting Dates: mS, 2nd and 4th Tuesdays Members and Visitors Urged to Attend.
