Wake Forest College, Oit. 30. — The Wake Forest College boys from Kutherford County met October 27th and organized the "Rutherford County Club." The following officers were chosen to direct the affairs o : . the club: President, C. Rex Long; Vice President, Joe D. Hamrick; Secretary and Treasurer, Chas. L. Gillespie; Reporter, Wade B. Math eny. The enrollment of Rutherford County loya in Wake Forest College is the largest ever. Eighteen men are enrolled and are as follows: ; C. Rex Long, Joe D. Hamrick, Clar ! ence D. Matheny, Morris Hamrick, David Roberts, J. J. Sparks, X ates ; Spurlin, S. A. Scruggs, Lewis v\. 1 Nanney, B. Bridges, James Ayers, i , Chas. B. Trammel, James Jadgett, ! Charles Padgett, Willie Moss, Mar • ion D. Blanton, Wade B. Matheny 1 and Chas. L. Gillespie. Three members of the club are in ithe Senior class. They are C. Rex I Long, Marion D. Blanton and Chas. :B. Trammel. The latter two are ! ministerial students, while Mr. Long is going into school work. Much interest was manifested among the boys at the night of or ganization. The club decided to hold monthly meetings. Its purpose is to cultivate a deeper fellowship among each other to further the best interest of Rutherford County. The club is well represented in outside activities of the college. Sev eral of the boys hold responsible of fices in the religious and literary or ganizations of the campus. Some of the ministerial members of the club are pastors of churches near Wake Forest. Willie Moss and James Ayers are regular members of the freshman football team. They play the fullback and quarterback posi tions, respectively. Moss is following the record of his brother, Tom, who was chosen all-state tackle when he was here. In the last freshman game Willie scored all the points for his team mates. Dr. W. A. Ayers passed through Wake Forest the other day on his way to Washington, North Carolina to assist in a meeting. He spent the night with his son, James. An other visitor from home recently was Mr. Hague Padgett, of Forest City. Mr. Padgett was passing through on his way home and only stayed for a short time. Monday, November 2nd, being the autumnal celebration of the two literary societies, is a holiday. De bates, orations, and social events will characterize the day. Since Monday is a holiday, some of the Rutherford County boys are plan ning to go home, and others will at tend the Baptist Student Conference at Chapel Hill. Every Wake Forest student from Rutherford County is proud of her and her achievements. The boys are always glad to get The Courier. WADE B. MATHENY, Reporter. HIGHWAY NO. 20 TO BE COMPLETED BY DEC. 15 Chimney Rock, N. C., Nov. 2. State Highway Number 20, which ex tends from Wilmington to Asheville, via Charlotte, Rutherfordton and Chimney Rock, it is now anticipated will have completed the 24 miles between Chimney Rock and Asheville by December 15th. This is the ex pectation of the contractor, but trav ) elers over this route have been so ac i customed to being promised this j short cut route on given dates during I the past two years of delay that it is i hard to put a credence in any state ! ments issued. During this extended ; period motorists have been compell -1 ed to detour via Hendersonville, len -1 gthening the route to 42 miles in stead of 24 when the new road is opened to traffic. Only two miles remain to be hard surfaced to complete the 24 miles and this will be accomplished in less j than sixty days according to best in ; formation available. Route 20 also ! has a short detour around the site ' where the Lake Lure Dam is being j built, but this detour is as good as a lot of the main roads, and no slack ,up in speed is essential. C., Nov. 2 Word has been received here of the injury received by David Cox in a football game at Charlotte yester day, together with the information that he was in the Charlotte Sanitar ium in a serious condition. He came there with the Raleigh team and was participating in the game when the accident occurred. Young Cox, came from Raleigh last summer to Chimney Rock to be assistant at the information bureau and made a favorable impression up on those who came to know him. KINGS MT. PRESBYTERY That Forest City is an important factor in the minds of our neighbors of four counties was demonstrated at the fall meeting of Kings Mountain Presbytery, held at the old Log creek church in Gaston county last week, where Mr. J. E. McFarland was the ! representative of the Forest City I Presbyterian. church. In extending jan invitation for Presbytery to meet 'here next spring Mr. McFarland elo j quently set forth a great many rea sons why Forest City should be the choice of this church couil, represen tative of the ministers and elders of five counties. Despite the fact that the important and growing towns of Lincolnton and Kings Mountain also presented most glowing tributes of their ability to entertain and please, the vote stood 1 for Lincolnton, 1 for Kings Mountain and some 40 or more for Forest City, the latter being made the unainimous choice. Kings Mountain Presbytery will meet in Forest City Presbyterian church on the first Tuesday after the second Sunday in April, 1926. WOMAN'S STATEMENT WILL HELP FOREST CITY "I hated cooking because all I ate turned sour and formed gas. I , drank hot water and olive oil by the , gallon. Nothing helped until I took Adlerika." Unless due to deep-seat • ed causes, Adlerika helps any case gas on the stomach in a surprisingly QUICK time. It is a wonderful remedy to use for constipation— it often works in one hour and never gripes. Reinhardt Drug Co. IS! . En ,Ej Is your Protection costing Too Much?
