NEWS Bostic, Route 2, Dec. 28.—A Christmas tree at Fortune School was enjoyed very much by the children and their parents. Miss Janet Ezell, who.is teaching at Fortune school, is spending the holi days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Ezell, of Chesnee, S. C. Miss Nora Biggerstaff is spending the holidays with relatives in Spar tanburg, S. C. Miss Edna Hollifield, who is attend ing school at Forest City, is at home for the holidays. Mr. George Dobbins, Earl and Miss Ruth Mae, of Rock Hill, S. C., were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Yelton last Friday night. Miss Clio Hollifield is visiting in Chesnee, S. C. \ Born, to Mr. and Mrs. W. Long, a fine girl, Dec. 22. Rev. E. J. Poe filled his regular appointment at Cedar Grove last Sunday. Misses Blanche Davis, Hulda and Margaret Philbeck, of Asheville Nor mal, are at home. \ Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Fortune and little daughter, Lucille, of Spindale, is visiting her brother, Kenneth, this week. DEATH OF MR. CORAN MURRAY Caroleen, Dec. 28.—The death of Mr. Coran Murray, son of Mr. George W. Murray, occurred Dec. 21. Mr. Murray was 38 years, 11 months and 10 days old. He took pneumonia shortly after having yellow jaundice. He seemed to be improving. Many of his friends were cheered by his change Saturday and were greatly rejoiced until Sunday, when he grew woi-se. Sunday night at 2:15 he was taken to his home above. Just be fore he died he told his friends to go with him to his home above, that he was bound to die. Mr. Murray left a wife and six children, the oldest being 16 years, the youngest about 18 months. They are Gertrude, Bertha, Lillian, Stella Geneva and Virginia. He leaves his parents, G. W. and Elizabeth Murray, Ellenboro; four brothers, M. M. Murray, Ellenboro; E. G., C. E. and R. G. Murray, Caro leen; four sisters, Mrs. Jossey Hill, Monroe; Mrs. Maude Hastings, Paw Creek; Mrs. Delia Kennedy and Mrs. Myrtle Moseley, Caroleen. Mr. Murray was well known in the county and many friends mourn his death. Burial was at Race Path, Tuesday, Dec. 22. CARD OF THANKS We want to thank the people of Caroleen and elsewhere for their in terest and good service during the sickness and death of our son and brother, Coran.
