Rutherford county's magnificent new courthouse will be dedicated next Wednesday. A program has been arranged for the occasion and hundreds of people are expected to attend. The exercises will begin at 11:15 a. m. with music by the Spindale Band. This well-known musical or ganization needs no further com ment. Under the leadership of Mr. D. C. Cole, it has won for itself a name in the county and this section of the state. At 11:30 Judge James Webb will deliver the dedicatory address. Judge Webb will also have the honor of holding the first term of court in the new building. THE NEWSPAPER AN INSTITUTION. The Glendale, Cal., News says: The American newspaper is without doubt the most remarkable commun ity institution in American life. It would be difficult to name any other agency in modern life which, while a private enterprise conducted for profit, is at the same time an insti tution which is regarded by the community in which it is published as particularly belonging to them. This applies with greater force to the smaller city or town than to metropolis. The newspaper in such communities if properly conducted is the most influential and important factor in promoting community growth of the best sort. Every effort or campaign for community develop ment depends upon the publicity which the newspaper furnishes to in terest the people in it. Without this publicity it is practically impossible in modern life to secure a unity of community effort Sufficient to ac complish any great undertaking for the city. This makes the newspaper a unique institution. Primarily it must be a business enterprise if it is to endure, and yet it must consider at all times the welfare of the community from a different angle and in a broader way than any other business enter prise. It is gratifying to note that this spirit very strongly animates the great majority of the newspapers. Because it does and because of the general absence of venality among newspaper editors the power and in fluence of the American press is what it is today. CLOSED CARS Displayed in Colors We are displaying for the first time Ford closed cars in three at tractive colors: Fawn Gray, Highland Green and Royal Maroon. A choice of the three colors is available on the coupe, tudor se dan or the fordor sedan; giving closed car buyers a most unusual selection. The world-wide reputation which Ford cars enjoy today is the result of fundamen tally correct design, quality materials—and more than twenty years of careful manufacturing. Throughout all this time it has been the aim of the Ford Motor Company to make every Ford car a testimonial to Ford quality. t Ford cars are easy to drive—quick in traffic and inexpensive to operate. They can utilize driving and parking space that longer cars cannot be maneuvered into a fact that is increasing in importance as traffic on the streets and highways becomes more congested. It has always been a Ford policy to provide transportation at lowest cost and while such desirable features as starter, balloon tires and now a selection of appealing colors are now standard equipment on allclosed car models, special equipment which is often wanted by some purchasers, but which would have to be paid for by all if adopted as standard, is not included in Ford car prices. Any of this equipment can, however be purchased at extremely low cost by the owner who seeks to individ ualize his car. B. B. DO6GETT . FOREST CITY, N. C.
