Member Gorgas Memorial Institute.) Children who are attending school should have regular hours for meals and sleep. Parents who allow their children to eat candy, cookies or anything else at anytime during the day without regard to their meals are unconsciously developing habits which are injurious to their children's stomachs and in course of time will impair their health. The stomach is a very active organ for several hours after a meal. The food has to be churned and then di gested by the action of the diges tive juices which are normally found in the stomach. Consequently, the stomach needs rest between meals and that is im possible when a child is allowed to eat at any time during the day. Fur thermore the child has no appetite at meal time, becomes ill-tempered when requested to eat and cannot digest his food while he is in that condition mentally. The stomach is best able to digest the food at meal time because the digestive juices are then being se creted. A child should have plain, nour ishing, easily digested and well cooked foods served at the proper meal time. The feeding of milk at the schools in the middle of the forenoon is a practice which should be discontinued. The stomach is made to work at a time when it should be resting and the child has no appetite when the time comes for the noon meal.. The child eats little or no breakfast with the expectation of getting the milk at school later on in the forenoon. School children frequently have no appetite for breakfast because they get up too late and try to eat in a hurry with the result that the food is not properly masticated nor di gested. They should retire early at night and arise early in the morn ing. Their appetite will return for breakfast if there is plenty of time to eat it. RHEUMATISM While in France with the American army I obtained a French prescrip tion for the treatment of rheuma tism and Neuritis. I have given this to thousands with wonderful results. The prescription cost me nothing. I ask nothing for it. I will mail it if you will send me your address. A postal will bring it. Write today. Paul Case, Dept. C-627 Brockton, Mass.
