Entertains Lake Lure Woman's Club. Mesdames B. B. Doggett and F. I. Barber entertained the' Lake Lure Woman's Club on Thursday after noon at the home of Mrs. Doggett. Receiving with -Mesdames Doggett and Barber were Mrs. Geo. P. Reid, present president and the past two presidents, Mesdames G. C. and C. A. McDaniel, of the Woman's, Club, of Forest City. Mrs. Doggett's handsome new home never looked more inviting as on this occasion, being decorated throughout with baskets of roses, sweet peas and other cut flowers. A most delightful social hour was enjoyed after the program and during this time the hostess served frozen salad course with accessories. Th« favors were gold and white bon-bon dishes filled with white and green fancy mints and tied with pink rib bons and each carrying a small spray of sweet peas. At the end of the social hour, Mrs. J. B. Phillips in a very effective man ner sang, Thanks Be to God, in this way expressed the thanks of all for a most delightful afternoon. C. 37-lt FOUR INJURED IN WRECK SUNDAY Car Turns Turtle Near Union Mills Burwell Child Dead Other News of Spindale Spindale, June 21.—Miss Lizzie Arrowood is in the Rutherford Hos pital suffering with a broken leg and Misses Rose Arrowood and Lilah Lawing and Mr. Jake Arrowood have minor injuries as a result of an auto mobile wreck between Gilkey and Union Mills Sunday afternoon, about three o'clock. The wreck occurred when the car in which the injured parties were rid ing turned turtle when they attempt ed to pass another car going in the same direction. The hub cap on one of the cars caught on the other, caus ing the wreck. Miss Lizzie Arrowood was rushed to the hospital immediate ly after the wreck, where she is con valescing nicely at present. Mrs. Jake Arrowood and two children were also passengers in the wrecked car, but escaped uninjured. The seven months old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H.,Burwell died Tuesday morning at the Saluda Hospital, Salu da, after a short illness of colitis. Funeral services were held Wednes day at Spindale, and interment at Rutherfordton. Editor and Mrs. Clarence Griffin, accompanied by Mr. Aubrey Clay, spent the week end visiting Mrs. Grif fin's sister, Mrs. M. T. Long and Mr. Long in Wadesboro. Mr. W. C. The Place To Trade THE CLOWN REVUE HERE FRIDAY Funny Minstrel Being Sponsor ed by Womans' Club-—To Be At School Audi torium On Friday night, June 24, the Womans' Club will present their "big laugh success," "The Clown Revue" at the High School auditorium. The first part of the show is a new idea in minstrel shows, featuring Mick and Dick, the two black boys on the ends. These two clever com edians are known in private life as M. H. Hewitt and R. W. Minish. In this act many clever song and chorus numbers will be introduced not to speak of the new minstrel "gags" hot off the griddle. The secopd part of the show is on the "Passing Show" idea with funny sketches and catchy song specialties predominating, sung and acted by Forest City's clever kiddies and pret ty girls. Included in the cast of the "Clown Revue" are such well known local talent as Claire Reid, Lanett Mc- Murry, Margaret Moore, R. C. Alex ander, James Padgett, Dr. R. R. B. Grose. Rev. W. H. Haney, of Greenville, S. C., preached an inspiring sermon at the Spindale Baptist church Sun day morning. He also preached at the Spencer Baptist church Sunday evening to a large audience. Mr. Haney was at one time the Baptist pastor at Spindale and has many friends here who were glad to wel come him back. COUNTY CLUB MET IN HENRIETTA Rev.
