Miss Sparks chose as her subject "The Marketing of Cotton in My Commu nity" and in a very sound practical manner outlined the principles of'suc cessful cotton marketing in general and as it is applied to Carroll County in particular. m In recognition of her achievement Miss Sparks won an expense-paid trip to the Southeastern fair, a gold, Stone Mountain Memorial medal and the grand prize, which was a trip to the International Live Stock Exposition in Chicago. Miss Katie Gillespie and Mr. John Mathis were married at Ches nee, S. C., Wednesday, November 30. The bride is the charming young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Gil lespie and the groom is a popular young man, son of Mrs. Laura Mathis of Union Mills. Their many friends have been extending congratulations and best wishes. Of interest to a wide circle of friends is the recent marriage of Miss Sallie Smith and Mr. Festus Wall. Mrs. Wall has made her home with her brother, Mr. R. M. Smith for a number of years.
