ROACH Editor THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 1928 BOY SCOUTS OBSERVE ANNIVERSARY WEEK Last week was "Anniversary Week" among the Boy Scouts of America. On Saturday evening at seven o'clock the local Troop en tertain their fathers and troop com mittees at an oyster supper in the banquet room of the R. R. Haynes Memorial Building. Mr. Robert James •vho is recognized as an authority an cooking oysters was on hand to prepare the feed, and he did it to the "king's" taste, too. Mr. O. G. Morehead led the pray er after all had assembled at the • table. The Scoutmaster welcomed the visitors. Mr. Chas. H_ Haynes made j . short talk followed by Dv. J. M. | Allhands who spoke of the Scout j work and it's merits. Mr. Z. O. Jenk- i ns spoke on the "Ideals of Scouting," j and brought a fine message. After all had declared they could i •eat no more the Scouts put on a few | stunts and charades depicting some j of the scout laws. Just after the j speech by Mr. Jenkins all stood and \ repeated the scout oath repledging i themselves to live the principles of scouting. The visitors were asked to join the 'ooys in some games. They were told that it would keep them from growing old and it was a delight to the boys to have them enter into the games with a fine spirit that won each of them the admiration of the boys. In some of the games the visitors show ad that they were not very familiar with them but this only made the games all the jollier for the boys. After some contests by the patrols all stood and repeated the Scout Benediction. The only thing to mar the pleasure of the Troop was that some of the members and invited guests could not be present for var ious reasons mostly account of colds and illness. DR. D. M.
