Records of dairymen covering a five-year period analyzed by the Ohio College of Agriculture showed that cows in herds in which less than Jo per cent freshened in the months of March, April and May produced an average of 8.i:»4 pounds >l milk a year at a cost of $2.47 per 100 pounds. Herds in which 35 per cent or more freshened in the spring produced an average of only 0,822 pounds of milk at an average cost of $2.71 per 100 pounds. * The cost ot' feed and labor per cow was lower in spring freshening herds, but the milk production per cow and the cost of producing 100 pounds of milk decreased as the proportion of spring-freshened cows diminished. Prices of dairy products tend to be higher during the fall and winter months, when most of the product of fall-freshened cows would be marketed than during the spring and summer months. The price paid to producers at country plants for standard fluid milk containing 3.5 per cent butterfat averaged $2.71 in the six months from October to March, inclusive, in the five yeai>, lirjj to 102G, inclusive, compared with $2,515 in the remaining six months. The price of farm butter averaged 41.S cents in the six fall and winter months compared with ;!S.l cenls in the six spring and summer months. ! u . Forest City's newest development and first restricted residential sec tion of the city will be opened up by March J, (today) according to an announcement made this week by the developer, Dr. (shas. S. McCall. This new development is to be known as Riverside Park, and in cludes seventy-five acres, divided in to fifty-two lots and reservations for a four-acre park and golf course, says Dr. McCall. The development is located at a right angle to Highway 20, and runs parallel with Carolina avenue, just within the city limits south of For est City The development is situat ed on a long ridge that affords a beautiful half circle view of the mountains. Main street through this property is to be known as Riverside Drive. All lots will be sold at a private sale, and under restrictions. All lots have a frontage of one hun dred feet while the depth is from 165 to 800 feet deep. Only one house will be allowed to a lot, and on Riv erside Drive any structure erected must cost $5,000 or more. The proposed golf dourse lies di rectly at the rear of the property. A four-acre wooded bluff, on which is located a fine spring, will eventually be made into a park and recreation center. Tentative plans for the erection of three fine residences on this property have already been made by owners of the lots, and it is expected that construction work will begin with opening of Spring. Dr. McCall's idea is to develop a first tjass residential area which will be creditable to a city the size of Forest City. The opening of this development has been set for March 1. Dr. Mc- Call says that no auction sales will be held and no agents employed oi high pressure selling methods used Anyone interested in this develop ment may see Dr. McCall and par chase one of these lots at a private sale.
