INDUSTRIAL BANK TO OPEN SOON IN RUTHERFORDTON Authorized Capital Stock SIOO,OOO With $25,000 Paid in. Rutherfordton, March 5. The Industrial bank of Rutherfordton is the name of a new banking institu tion which was charted in Raleigh re cently. The authorized capital stock is SIOO,OOO with $25,000 paid in. The incorporators are: Messrs. N. C. Har ris, F. D. Hamrick, David Lindsey, J. S. Dockery and C. B. Goodyear. The new firm will probably open for business about April 15th. Quarters have been arranged for on Main street and definite announcements will be made soon. Officers and di rectors will be announced later. A general mortgage and insurance business will be operated in connec tion with the bank. The plan of the bank will be similar to the Industrial Loan and Investment bank of Forest City. There are similar banks over the country and the majority of them are a great success. The new cor poration here will make small loans, • discount paper, etc. It will fill a long felt need for a growing com munity like Rutherfordton. MONTFORD COVE Nealsville, R-l, March 3. —Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Hemphill had as their guest last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Hemphill, High Shoals, and Mr. Pat ton Hemphill of Knoxville, Tenn. I Mrs. W. G. Harris and daughter, Mrs. Cora Nichols, are both quite sick with coldß. Misses Glenn and Jessie Harris, of Caroleen, are spending the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Harris. Mr. A. J. Wilkerson got his hand cut this morning; he has gone to Marion to have it dressed. Dr. James, of Marion, has been called this morning to visit Mr. J. G. Haynes who is in feeble health. Mrs. E. S. Harris spent last Tues day with her daughter, Mrs. L. G. Blanton of Spindale. Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Hemphill and | Mrs. Noris Hemphill spent Tuesday with relatives at Forest City. The farmers have taken advant age of the fine weather this week, one hears the familiar "Gee" "Haw" on every side. Miss Clara Rhodes went to Ruther ford hospital this week-end and had her tonsils removed and is now home doing nicely. Miss Oline Stott spent a day tbis week with her aunt, Mrs. M. F. Nan ney. Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Nichols, of Old Fort, spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrss J. P. Wilkerson. Bowera, of Hender sonville. MR. OLIN REID, i AGE 25, DEAD Popular Young Man Succumbs j to Pneumonia at His Home in Spindale. I' • 1 | Spindale, March 5. Mr. Junior \ Olin Reid, aged twenty-five years, died at the home of his father, Mr. J. P. Reed, here Wednesday after noon, Feb. 29, at 4 o'clock, after an illness lasting more than three > months. Sometime ago he was j ! stricken with heart trouble and : leakage of the heart, which neces sitated his removal to the Rutherford J hospital some weeks ago. Since re- j turning to his home here he was thought to be improving until a few I days ago he contracted pneumonia , I which resulted in his death. ! Funeral services were held at Tan jners' Grove Methodist church Thurs day afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. T. C. Jordon and Rev. M. M. Hunt- ! • ley in charge of the service. Inter- ! ment was in Tanners Grove cem • etery. j Pallbearers were Messrs. Johnnie j Yelton, Jake Martin, Dr. E. N. Big gerstaff, George Willie Hill, Carl Beaty and S. K. Yelton. Many beau tiful flowers were donated, which i # 7 almost entirely covered the grave. These flowers were borne by Misses Dorothy Hudgins, Virgie Grayson, Carrie Hamrick, Mary E. Yelton, Mary Yelton, and Martha Hudgins. Rev. T. C. Jordan opened the serv ices by reading the scripture pas 'sage. Rev. M. M. Huntley followed with a brief sketch of the life of the deceased, and said that before he died he stated that he was pre pared and ready to go. A quartet composed of Mesdames S. K. Yelton, Gerard Lipscomb, Messrs. G. B. Howard and Russell Wells sang sweetly "Abide With Me," accom panied by Mrs. Lloyd Williamson. This selection was followed by j "Asleep in Jesus." OHn Reid was bora June 26, 1902, being 25 years of age. He joined I the Tanners Grove Methodist church at the age of twelve, and remained a constant Christian until death. He was a member of the Spindale Meth odist church at the time of his death. He is survived by his parents, Mr. | and Mrs. J. P. Reid, of Spin dale, his wife, six brothers and one sister. The brothers are Claud Reid, of Spindale; Rev. W. M. Reid, of j Henrietta; Lewis, of Spindale; Rob ; ert, near Sandy Mush; Ben and John, of Forest City R-2; two sisters, Mrs. Docia Morrow and Mrs. Ella Daniel, of Spindale. INFANT SON OF MR. AND MRS. HOWARD ROBBINS DEAD Spindale, March s.—Jack Robbing, one-week-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Robbins, died Thursday af ternoon here, and funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Holly Springs. The baby was born Feb ruary 23, and shortly after its birth was stricken with yellow jaundice whichcla imed its life a week later. BUYS LOCAL ICE PLANT Capacity Will Be Doubled Soon, Says Operators—To Handle Blue Ridge Ice Products. The Blue Ridge Ice Products Com pany, with headquarters in Ruthei fordton, have purchased the Forest City ice plant of the Forest City Oil Mill Co., according to an announce ment made this week by Mr. Leslie Taylor. The Blue Ridge Products Company took charge of the Forest City plant Mkrch 1. The new owners will oper ate their own fleet of delivery trucks and will deliver ice direct from the plant to the customer. The present capacity of ihe plant is about fifteen tons per day. In the near future the plant will be enlarg ed to about twice its present size and storage rooms erected to take care of 150 tons of ice. This is being done in order to take care of the heavy demands that will be made during hot days of the summer. Storage will also be added to take care of Blue Ridge ice cream for Forest City customers. In the fu ture merchants and druggists, who handle this commodity will receive it from the local plant instead of from iutherfordton. A number of minor improvements are being made in order to give prompt, courteous service. This company is at present operat plants in Morganton, Marion, Rutherfordton, Spindale, Forest City, Shelby and Lake Lure, and is one of the largest ice products chain in the state. MRS. M. A. WRIGHT DEAD Forest City, R-2, March s.—The death angel visited the home of Mr. M. A. Wright Thursday, February 23, and claimed as it's victim, Mrs. M. A. Wright. She had been sick only one week. Before her marriage she was Miss Eliza Johnson, daugh ter of Mr. J. W. and Mrs. M. E. John son. She was 48 years of age. Beside her husband she leaves six children: Dathice, Julia, Henry, Eva, Maggie and Allen. Also five step children: Bertha, Cleophus, Jim, Floyd and Alonzo, one brother, Mr. A. L. Johnson, of Bostic, R-l and one sister, Mrs. J. T. Gladden at Shelby. Funeral services were held at New Prospect church near Shelby the fol lowing Saturday at 11 o'clock, with Rev.
