Hampton captured a still Tuesday afternoon, April 3, on the Ledbetter Mill place on Holland's Creek. It was a 60-gallon capacity sheet iron still. Fire was under the furnace. About 500 gallons of beer and a gal lon of whiskey were taken. Arrest will likely be made soon. j FIRE DESTROYS HOME Mr. Nashley, overseer of "the Girls' camp on Cane Creek, near Lake Lure lost a good residence near Fairview, Wednesday night, April 4, by fire. ABRAM iPANNELL DIES AT ELLENBORO Ellenboro, April 9.—Mrs. Abram Pannell, after a lingering- illness died at her home Tuesday, April 3. She was eighty-two years of age, joined the church at the age of nineteen. She has three children, two boys and one girl. The boys, Columbus and Avery Pannell live near the home place, the daughter, Mrs. Sarah Wil son lives some distance from the home. The funeral services were conducted from the Oak Grove Meth odist church, of which she was a consistent and faithful member. In terment followed in the church ceme tery. Rev. J. E. Hipp had charge of the services. The songs selected were favorites of the deceased: "Rock of Ages," "Over There" and "Sweet Bye and Bye." She was a life long member of the Methodist church, having joined in early life. Her Christian life was one for others to follow and she was ready at all times to rendjer assistance to her friends and neighbors.
