MONTFORD CM Nealsville, R-l, April 16.—1t seems that "Old King Winter" has turned backward in his flight, as we have had rain, sleet, and snow during the past week, and last night a kill ing frost. Mrs. E. M. Stott and son, Mr. Nor ris Stott spent Sunday with the for mers sisters, Mesdames Curtis and Koone of Forest City. Mr. J. G. Haynes is not improving very fast. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Halford spent Sunday with relatives at Marion. Mrs. E. M. Hall is confined to her room with a severe cold is now some better. Mrs. L. D. Hemphill visited Mrsw W. J. Hardin of Shingle Hollow one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Williams, of Ruth, have moved to the farm of Mr. O. (T. Williams. Miss Emma Frady is spending this week with her aunt, Mrs. Elijah Hall, of Mrs. R. SP. Morris £nd Mrs. B. M. Bright, of Sugar Hill, visited Mrs. C. M. Hall Saturday. Mr. Millard Hall and sisters, Mrs, Selina Higgins and Miss Nancy Hall have all been sick with colds. Mr. Sebring, of Lenoir, of the For estry Service visited Mr. Henry For ney, on the Pinnacle Mountain, this afternoon. Mrs. Ola Harris is improving to the delight of her friends. Mr. and Mrs. S. Z. Taylor and a i".l of Johnson City, Tenn., passed through the Cove Saturday on their way to visit the former's mother, Mrs. Rita Taylor, of Forest City. Mr. and Mrs. Norris Hemphill were visitors Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. L. V. Hai'ris. ALEXANDER NEWS Alexander Mill, April 18.—Rev. C. C. Matheny preached at the Sandy Run Baptist church last Sunday night in behalf of the Centennial Cam paign. Rev. Mr. Stroupe from Char lotte, preached here in behalf of the same work. JONES ANNOUNCES FOR REPRESENTATIVE Mr. Willie M. Jones, prominent merchant of the Shiloh community, announces in this week's issue of The Courier as a candidate for the general assembly. Mr. Jones states in his announcement that if he is elected he will make an effort to secure the reduction of taxes by in troducing proper bills toward this end.'
