HOPEWELL NEWS Ellenboro, R-2, April 10. —The young folks of the Y. M. C., render ed an intertaining Easter program Sundlay night at Robbins Grove. Miss Estelle Spratt and Miss Lois Swink spent Easter with Miss Myr tice Doty. Miss Anna Bridges, of near Lawn dale, spent Saturday night and Sun day at the home of Miss Dovie Bridges, visiting -her sister. Funeral services were held at Hopewell last Wednesday at 3 o'clock for Mrs. A. Lovelace, of the county home, at Rutherfordton, the Rev. Fay Martin preached the fu neral. Mr. Clyde Robbins, of Hickory, was visiting at Mr. J. D. Robbins, Sunday. Miss Myrtice Bowen visited Miss Dorcas Bridges Sunday afternoon. Mr. Oscar Grigg and wife spent Easter at Mr. J. Fites. Mr. Martin Bridges, of Greeneville, S. C., visited Mr. J. T. Robbin's Sun day afternoon. ' Miss Effie Horn, Robbins school teacher, spent the week-end at home at Lattimore. Sherrill had as their dinner guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Callahan and children, of Forest City, and daughter, Miss Myrle and Miss Dana McDaniel, of Charlotte; Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Gross, Misses A'nnie Daniel and Zelma Sherrill were at Chimney Rock Sunday afternoon. Miss Annie Gross spent the week-end! with Miss Rachel Flynn, near Chimney Rock. Miss Mary Toms entertained a number of her friends last Wednes day night with an April fool party. There were a large number present. All reported a nice time. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Bostic and children and Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Melton, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Sherrill. AVONDALE NEWS Avondale, April 10.—Little Hollis M. Owens, Jr., was given a birthday party Tuesday afternoon, April 3, from 3 to 4:30, at his home in East Avondale. Many games were enjoy ed by those present; afterwards the guests were ushered into the dining rocm. There was a cake on the table lighted with five candles. Refresh ments consisted 1 of ice cream and cake. The honoree received many pretty and attractive gifts. Among those present were Mesdames. Z. O. Jenkins, J. M. Layne, H. M. Owens, H. H. Jenkins, J.
